What travelers are saying
- Michael KLondon, UK544 contributionsElephant Mountain is part of the hills surrounding the city. We didn't find out how it got that name. It is a very steep climb to the summit, by a series of steps of varying height and depth, fortunately under the shade of trees. I had to rest frequently on the way up (I am a reasonably fit 70-ear-old). It must have taken 30-40 minutes to ascend, and my Fitbit showed a height of 177m. There are a couple of viewpoints, the main feature of which being Taipei 101. We saw one man climbing the mountain on his hands and feet, backwards!
It must be a hard slog on hot days! Refreshments are available at the top.Written March 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We took pictures of 101 from afar and walked about 7 mins to the building. There is a shopping mall in 101. The top 2 level of the malls are for luxury brands. The second and ground level are stores of popular brands. Food court is at the basement level. You can walk to the metro station from the basement level.
We didn't go to the observation deck this time as we went there 15 years ago.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Must try the pepper buns - First stall near the entrance to the night market - you cannot miss it - long queue always .
A good market to try the street foodWritten February 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The 89th floor has 360 degree viewing through windows. Cameras are much better at taking pictures through glass, so this was great. Lots of room to move around and not hard to approach windows. We were there early.
Up the stairs to 91st floor for open viewing, though frankly it wasn’t a much better view. If the weather not cooperating, stay on 89 and you’ll really not miss anything.
Staff very friendly and helpful - a well run operation.Written March 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The New Year's Eve fireworks show is one of the world's most spectacular firework displays. It's televised around the world. The whole building erupts in colorful displays. - dyhxSingapore3,494 contributionsDiscovery Centre of Taipei, at Taipei City Hall.Â
Free to visit and it's pretty enlightening. The centre spreads over 3 levels and I suggest starting from Level 4 and work your way down. Level 4 is a display of Taiwan's history and culture. You will find the Discovery Theatre here where they play different themed videos on different days at every hour. I was there just in time to catch the last show at 4pm. The video took about 20 mins, leaving me just 40 mins to cover the rest of the centre before they close.Â
Level 3 was a display of what Taipei has to offer, the nature (the flora and fauna) , the city, the music. Level 2 is a special exhibition area where the theme changes regularly. When I was there, it was about the Taipei Police Department. For its educational value, this should be made a permanent display.Â
I like that they've incorporated interactive bits throughout the exhibition that makes it more interesting. Which also makes it more enjoyable for young children than adults like myself. 1 hr was sufficient for me but I imagine families with children will spend more time here.ÂWritten June 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The architecture is characteristic Chinese and while the construction is relatively new, the maintenance and cleanliness is superb. People will be busy praying and minding their own business so you can easily roam around and check out the place at your own pace.Written January 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TaiwanCritique26 contributionsTIBE provides the worst service for international publishers. Its not a surprise that the international section is getting smaller every year. It almost doesn't exist. During the fair most international booths are closed because they only open for appointments so the public only go to the local areas. If you're an international company and want to expose your products to the Taiwanese public, TIBE is not for you. They have rules about closing your booth but they don't enforce these rules making it a waste of money for companies who are open for the entire fair. If you have any problems, they are ignored by the TIBE foundation.Written October 18, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
