What travelers are saying
- hrk108 contributionsI visited this place during autumn season a couple times.
The matching with autumn leaves and bridge is perfect to capture.
It’s also nice to hike in the beautiful autumn leaves.
It's not hard to drive here despite the mountain.Written July 22, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - hrk108 contributionsI rode in a rowboat from in front of the shop. It cost 800 yen for one boat.
It's the size for two adults. I had a simple lecture on how to paddle. Once I got used to it, I just spent as much time as I wanted.
If you have your own boat or sup, you can ride in.
When I was padding, I heard a shooting sound from a nearby shooting range.
But it wasn’t too noisy.
I found a couple tiny bugs flying (they won’t bite). So bring an anti-bug spray if you mind.
Bathroom isn’t clean enough, so I wouldn’t use it if it’s necessary.
There's a couple foods and ice cream inside the rental shop.
The shop staff said driving or walking is the way to get here.
It takes about 70 minutes to walk from Naruko-Onsen station.
I love to spend time not thinking about anything, so I loved the time I spent at a place surrounded by beautiful nature.Written July 28, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fast forward to now, we recognise this as a piece of Civil Engineering Heritage, and visit this concrete gravity-arch dam for the autumn colour magnified by the lake reflection. A leisure walk from the car park, I could not count the number of pictures I took along the 15-minute walk.Written November 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - maritoraTokyo Prefecture, Japan4,752 contributionsThe name of this place is called "Onikoube". It means the head of a demon.
Long time ago, there was a local samurai whose name was "Ohtakemaru" and he was against the powers at that time. The legend of him was that he fought like a demon and when he was beheaded his head flew to this place.
When we reached there at 9:00 am, the parking lot was vacant.
There is a well maintained promenade along the river called "Yunokawa" but some parts are rough, so I recommend you to wear some comfortable shoes. The mountain side of the promenade has a lot of geyser points. These looked powerful. Unfortunately, this time the promenade was closed along the way...
We could reach a river of hot springs, so we made a small Onsen using stones we found by the river.Written May 27, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Those exhibits made a unique experience.
Although this is for kids, I think it might be interesting for adults too.

There’s a traditional architecture house where the powerful general lived and a beautiful Japanese garden there.
Inside the house, the actual textbook used about 400 years ago is readable.
Each season has a different sight of view, so definitely come back and see it in a different season.
ACCESS: located in front of Yubikan Station.
FEE: 300 yen per adult.Written August 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Overall, the museum looks dated. It was cold inside the museum and only 3 rooms of display.
If you have no time, this museum can be skipped unless you love kokeshi dolls.Written December 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
