What travelers are saying
- SputnikSingapore, Singapore19 contributionsIt was a very pleasant hike for our family of 4. So yes - I would recommend it as a day trip from Osaka (where we were based).
However the trail can be steep and uneven. But it is doable for the average person.
We needed to catch the shuttle bus (which added to the fun element) which has a fixed schedule. We had been warned of this so we were prepared.
This place must be very far out (1.5 hours from Osaka) as there were not many people on the trail (another reason to go visit).
We came in December so no stunning foliage was present. But the waterfalls and tranquility of the place more than make up for it.
The people were very friendly - staff of the visitor centre, proprietress of the eatery, bus driver etc - so it added to the pleasant experience.Written December 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are also parks and tennis
courts around the lake, and you can even enjoy birdwatching, bass fi shing, etc.Written July 8, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - takahisa mNabari, Japan30 contributionsAlong the Shirenji River, a tributary from Nabari River, lies a giant natural pillar-like wall of flat rocks which, extend approximately eight kilometers in length. During spring, one can enjoy the scenic view of mountain cherry blossoms and azaleas in the ravine along this giant walls. The ravine, covered in vivid green leaves would turn bright red in autum.Written September 15, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sidrian2Singapore, Singapore25 contributionsIt isn't everyday that one gets to see live giant salamanders. This is a small 2-storey building at the entrance to the Akame 48 nature trail. Here, you can view these unusual creatures in glass tanks and learn about them if you can stop long enough to read the scant information displayed. One gets a sense of the affection the staff has for individual amphibians in the way characteristics are ascribed to them, such as "tame but curious" and "turning from naive to mild". It was a pleasant distraction from the hike. Not to be missed.Written March 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
