The Tasman River flows into Lake Pukaki at its northern end, fed by meltwater from the mighty and breathtaking Tasman Glacier - another marvel of Nature!

Although the actual colony is a short walk around from the car park, the seals aren't fussy and can be found on the board walk, under bushes and on the beach at the car park, perfect for anyone with limited mobility.
We arrived mid-afternoon on an in-coming tide and as the tide covered the rocks, the seal pups were swimming ashore and climbing up the steps to the car park, then climbing into the garden beds to sleep.
