Sta. Monica Church (also known as Sarrat Church because of its location) is one of the churches founded by the Augustinian missionaries in Ilocos region. This one dates back to the late 18th century. It is considered as the biggest Catholic church in Ilocos Norte. However, there's much more to it than that. It is a silent witness to various historical events, good or bad, but she remains unscathed in her monumental beauty and grandeur. The church is also well-kept and continues to impress whoever sets off in its solemn interior. The red bricks that compose it bear witness to Filipino artistry and aesthetic taste. Adjacent to the church, one can also visit the diosesan museum and be transported back in time. Also don't miss the equally beautiful belfry. The whole complex is truly a patrimonial treasure all Filipinos should be proud of.
