I went there on August 17 on a tricycle from seeing the Salvation Army church. It has an excellent display of the rich heritage of Ilocos. It is housed in an 1800s tobacco warehouse. It is two storeys and charges a minimum fee. There is also a Marcos Museum out of town. There is a minimum fee and a souvenir shop.

The facade of this cathedral is very nice. The inside is typical Catholic church. I am not against icons and status of saints but they can be at least organized better. It's an eyesore. It could've been better if the area surrounding the church is a garden instead of a parking lot.

Sta. Monica Church (also known as Sarrat Church because of its location) is one of the churches founded by the Augustinian missionaries in Ilocos region. This one dates back to the late 18th century. It is considered as the biggest Catholic church in Ilocos Norte. However, there's much more to it than that. It is a silent witness to various historical events, good or bad, but she remains unscathed in her monumental beauty and grandeur. The church is also well-kept and continues to impress whoever sets off in its solemn interior. The red bricks that compose it bear witness to Filipino artistry and aesthetic taste. Adjacent to the church, one can also visit the diosesan museum and be transported back in time. Also don't miss the equally beautiful belfry. The whole complex is truly a patrimonial treasure all Filipinos should be proud of.

Whether this bell tower is really sinking or not, we leave it up to you. The fact remains that this brick-made monument is one of the prominent landmarks in Laoag City. It is strangely located far from the church of which it is the belfry. Well, it is not the only detached bell tower in the Philippines. Take the case of the bell tower of the Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo. At any rate, this "sinking" monument provides a good background for any pictorial. You'll be impressed by its massive, multi-tiered structure that has survived earthquakes and other adverse events since the early 17th century. Thumbs up!

This park is where you just want to spend an afternoon lazing and waiting for the sun to set. It is quiet, the people are disciplined. There is a nearby food stall where you can enjoy the local food.

This monument located in Aurora Park right across the Marcos Hall of Justice in Laoag City is often overlooked by tourists. However, it is an important monument related to a very significant historical event in Philippine economy during the Spanish era -- the tobacco monopoly in the country. It was banned for a while since it was becoming a source of abuse and forced labor. But such ban adversely affected local economy. When King Alfonso XII lifted the ban in 1881, the Ilocano people expressed their gratitude and erected this monument in November of 1882. An inscription on it (in Spanish) reads: "To His Majesty, King Alfonso XII -- may God keep him! -- [the people are] grateful for the lifting of the ban on tobacco [monopoly]."

Very cheap drinks, live music and a dynamic friendly atmosphere. Very cute dancing singers too.
It was full of locals on Saturday night and there were 2 alternating bands.

Our group had an awesome experience via Bro's at the La Paz Sand Dunes. The staff were amazing, and we were out having fun on the dunes in no time at all. There are a couple of other options in the area, but I believe this may be the only one that's licensed. Highly recommend this place!

Available options are the 4x4 experience, ATV rentals as well as sand boarding! For the ATV's you can opt for either a guided OR un-guided ride. You will not want to miss this!
