- MikeJennyQOnalaska, WI985 contributionsGreat walk through Geyser basin. Springs is remarkable and mid afternoon reflections made great pictures. Lots of geothermal features to seeWritten January 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- shazaca33 contributionsSeeing Old Faithful was an amazing experience for our family. It is a natural phenomenon that is worth seeing in person. The bison tracks nearby make it even more exciting.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MikeJennyQOnalaska, WI985 contributionsNothing like it any where else on earth. Fall is a nice time togo not as busy or hot. Multiple Geysers and the predictable Old Faithful. Lodge and guest areas have a lot of room if showers waiting for eruption. Large parking areaWritten January 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- seema60Toronto, Canada947 contributionsThese travertine terraces are very different to the rest of the park. We also enjoyed going to the hotel nearby for buying some souvenirs. It’s a worthwhile drive if you are staying longer than two daysWritten September 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Donald J1 contributionThe first and only time I was at this geyser was inJuly 1975. It would bubble up about every 7 minutes. There was nobody on the trail or at the geyser at the time I was there. I thought it was super great. I was 15 years old. I had to list going in July 2022 because it wouldn't accept this review but it was July 1975!Written October 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MikeJennyQOnalaska, WI985 contributionsFall is beautiful This area is boardwalk and very cool on the Lake area. Creature comforts like lodges were closed and staff said only accessible a couple weeks after that. Not busy in the fallWritten January 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rick BRound Rock, TX1,305 contributionsMidway Geyser Basin is the home of the Grand Prismatic Spring one of Yellowstone's premier attractions. Best place to view this is to take the short hike to the Grand Prismatic Spring Overlook. The Grand Prismatic Spring is the third largest hot spring in the world so at ground level I don't think you can get the full effect of it's size and beauty. After visiting the overlook then go into the basin and look around.Written September 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - seema60Toronto, Canada947 contributionsThis is a wonderful area to see in Yellowstone NP. It has large volcanic geysers erupting with mud continuously. It was a great walk on the boardwalk with steam rising around everywhere.Written September 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MyBucketListTrips250 contributionsThis was my favorite stops in YNP. There is a wooden raised walkway around the area. Many pots, beautiful colors. Very interesting and worth the time needed to park. It’s a popular stop for tourists. Best to get there early in the morning.Written August 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- K BLafayette, CA443 contributionsCastle Geyser has a huge volcano like cone, very different from the other Upper Basin geysers, even Old Faithful. It is said to be very old so accumulated a lot of material around it. Erupts a couple times in 24hrs (we didn't see an actual eruption) but interesting even without an eruption.Written June 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amy M94 contributionsThis is a perfect casual hike for those who have time for it. It's also great for those with a bicycle. Although... It is uphill all the way to the geyser. Of course that means it's downhill all the way back to the parking lot. The hike up mostly goes along a pleasant little river.
The geyser goes off every 3 hours, so if you don't check with the rangers ahead of time of when those times are, you may have to kill a lot of time.
We had to wait 2 hours so we decided to hike down the trail on the other side, which was pretty cool too. It was a forested mountain meadow.
The geyser went off at 12:10 for us. The people who saw out at 9am said the geyser went off for 20minutes. We had 2 minutes.
I would absolutely recommend this as a good beginner hike for people unaccustomed to high elevations or simply in the mood for something more casual. I do not recommend it if you have one day in Yellowstone.Written March 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We visited most of the geysers and each one had a very interesting geothermal feature. This one is shaped like a mound as the silicates from the eruptions get deposited on it.Written September 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RuthsmumAlton in Hampshire212 contributionsAnother very interesting area of volcanic activity, if your travelling around Yellowstone with that in mind, make sure you don't miss this site.Written May 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - fiamma11Tysons Corner, VA4,919 contributionsUnlike Old Faithful, the Grand Geyser is not as predictable; however, it is so worth seeing erupt. It releases spurts of strong activity rather than a steady stream, but oh its eruption is amazing in height and in spectacle.Written January 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Palomino922Virginia Beach, VA1,066 contributionsThis geyser has only been active in the last few years. Our guide said there were 30 times in 2018, 48 in 2019, 26 in 2020 and so far in 2021-13 times. It was spewing but not a full eruption when we were there. Maybe you'll be luckier.Written September 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
