What travelers are saying
- WikumjBromley, UK202 contributionsA great hike for beginners who are only visiting Honolulu for a short time, as this doesn’t take long and is close to Honolulu city. This is a jungle trek with a chance to experience the lush green forests of Oahu while still on a relatively easy path (note it is uphill, but still would be doable by most ages and abilities). The mile long hike took us about 90 mins in total (there and back). Do douse yourself in plenty of mosquito repellant as we got bitten a couple of times. The greenery along the way are as good as the waterfall at the end. For the more adventurous, bring swimwear for a dip in the pool under the waterfall.Written 8 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - snoozermooseBoston, MA82 contributionsI thought I was reasonably fit, but boy did this hike put me in my place! It's really just a seemingly endless set of steps formed by old railway planks which become quite steep in certain sections. And there's no shade! Bring lots of water and don't forget to wear sunscreen. Also don't do as I did and eat a heavy breakfast before coming here. I nearly threw up! The views are second to none up top and make the climb worth it.Written 31 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Denise RSydney, Australia29 contributionsThe entrance fee to this museum is by donation. We found the exhibitions to be incredibly interesting as they showcase the war in the Pacific and the part played by people of Hawaiian/Japanese descent.Written 3 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 907blakedTampa, FL1,260 contributionsThis museum was very cool in the way it was organized, with the courtyards and the different galleries. It was a surprise that there were so many cool things to look at. With that said, the best part of visiting is the add-on ticket to visit Shangri-La, Doris Duke's estate. Advance tickets for Shangri-La are required and sell out quickly during busy times.Written 25 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Teacher20052013DeLand, FL561 contributionsWe rode up to the lookout via Uber and brought some eats with us to enjoy as we watched the sun go down over Oahu far above the island. You could see everything on the west side of the island...Waikiki, Diamond Head, Honolulu.Written 1 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - travelingseniorHonolulu, HI198 contributionsThe grounds are large. The house is decorated well. Unlike other houses where you are always in awe and can't imagine anyone living there, there was a warm welcoming livable feeling to the house and its grounds.
Tour guides are a must. Worth the money to see it (free to Hawaii residents). The mini ice cream sandwiches were so delicious. I just might have to go to Foodland to get one.Written 6 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A small waterfall that can be accessed. Great location in a hilly area. Free entrance, but a donation is kindly requested, as the site is part of Honolulu University. We enjoyed it tremendously, strongly recommended!Written 27 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Creeping_Death_LALos Angeles, CA4,178 contributionsI didn't have a rental car so I took the public bus to the closest stop near the park. Getting an Uber was almost impossible in that area. The hassle of getting there was well worth it in the end. The view and the surrounding area is beautiful and must be seen in person.Written 22 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Denise RSydney, Australia29 contributionsAbsolutely amazing place to learn about the overthrow of the Hawaiian Islands by the US. The palace is in pristine condition and full of Hawaiian history.Written 3 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Teacher20052013DeLand, FL561 contributionsThis place is nestled in between two magnificent pieces of property - one with a house, the other with a house being built on the site. Getting down to the caves you have to traverse a very steep path that can be treacherous if it has gotten wet. Not for the faint of heart as there is not really a railing to hang onto the entire way but rather a chain link fence and then a chain that dangles. Wear good sturdy shoes and perhaps take a walking stick.Written 1 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Quiles-Cardona6 contributionsThis hike isn’t for the faint of heart! Lol it’s very challenging and sometimes dangerous but worth it in the end when you get to the waterfalls and the views. Definitely worth it. 👍🏼Written 16 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Pandy DSydney, Australia885 contributionsManoa Falls, Oahu
You arrive at a carpark and centre which includes a small store. The car park opens at 8am and costs $7. The Manoa Falls Trail is a really scenic walk with untouched bushland. It’s relatively easy although you walk over rocks covered with mud (don’t wear your favourite white shoes), so it can be a little slippery. The trail ends at a small lookout and pool. The day we went the falls were not like the promo photos due to the drought, but still awesome to reach. We did the trail in 45min up, and 30mins back.

The garden specialty is the cultivation of cacti, aloes, dryland palms, plumeria and bougainvillea. The loop around the garden is approximately two miles. We did not walk to the portion featuring species from Madagascar and Africa. The blooming plumeria and bougainvillea were a sight for sore eyes. We visited in March when the flowers were in bloom and the fragrance was amazing. Go in the morning and you will likely have the place to yourself. Free parking is available. It is open dawn to dusk.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- metroburnsHigh Wycombe, England30 contributionsWow! So glad we took the time to visit this museum. The sheer number of exhibits and the thoughtful layout makes for a superbly interesting experience. Add to this the professionalism and knowledge of our guides Eddie & Dana who both have a wealth of experience in law enforcement and you have all the makings of the best Police museum we have visited anywhere in the world. Thanks. Tip, Parking available in public metered stalls in the underground Police garage off Kealamakai Street just behind the Transit centre.Written 5 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
