Easy hiking trails, many beautiful trees (including the Madrone (seldom found on the Washington mainland where we live) and helpful park employees make this a must-see for SJ Island visitors.
Located on the western end of San Juan Island, this state park offers some of the best views on the island, picnic tables and grills, and some good spots to sit and watch whales and dolphins in season.

Great park, short hikes to the shore for good whale watching and views of Cascades Mountains and islands
In addition once a year they have a Orca Sing at the Park where people gather with families and friends and they chant Indian songs to drive the whales near the park.

... picnic overlooking the water, watching the seagull flight pattern...It appeared to be less traveled than south beach and we had the spot to ourselves...a peaceful location to just be, enjoy each other and nature.

We paddled to the state park and loved our stay.

This little island/state park is hidden just north of Pearl Island, about a mile, by water, from Roche Harbor on San Juan Island.
