- Beth UKansas City, KS11 contributionsAbsolutely stunning! A must do. We went two days in a row. First day we hiked to Mary Lake and Catherine Lake and was spectacular. Second day we did Donut Falls and hiked to the top of the rocks. Amazing experience. Can’t beat the beauty of nature here. Donut Falls is way more relaxing of a hike but still beautiful.Written October 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KathrinePennsylvania629 contributionsThe temple was covered in scaffolding but visitors could still see how magnificent this building is. We were told construction would last a few more years.

- worktotravel14Trenton, NJ3,909 contributionsThis was one of the most welcoming capitol building that I've been to in the United States. It invites the community in and has a range of historic exhibits, arts, and exhibitions that share different parts of Utah. You can roam the halls and take in the glory of the architecture. The security welcomes you in for a visit. Go for at least a few hours your first time.
We loved the Utah movies, some of the exhibits about indigenous peoples within Utah, some focus on Mormonism, and the different areas that shared how the capital was built with all Utah-based materials and firms.
Great views inside and outside the Capitol. We were delighted to see that it was picture taking time for prom night and all the high school students in their best dress.

There are alot of homeless people in the salt lake downtown area. And there are lots inside the library.
They allowed me and the fur baby to come in and we took a ton of photos
Do not know what professional photography rules are but I will say this would be an amazing space to photograph a variety of clients

We saw the conference center auditorium which holds 21,000 people with its own organ. We were lucky to get to the roof for a view over temple square and the construction of the temple. - hilo88Honolulu, HI374 contributionsI am not a part of the LDS school, but I figured that “When in Rome” learn something new... so I visited the Church History Museum...a history of the Mormon church.
The workers there were very nice and I never felt preached to while I was there ( I had some concern about this as I was deciding to go).
I was there about 2 hours and watched the short film, viewed and read all of the history exhibits on the ground floor, browsed quickly there the art exhibit on the 3rd floor, and did a 6 minute power museum walk on the bottom floor which was about pioneering Mormons (this area is pretty small).
The museum was very interesting. I learned a lot. I did not expect to really enjoy the museum, but I did!
The one thing I didn’t particularly care for was the short film. It was a really short video of Joseph Smith going for a walk in the woods and being spoken to by a presense. The screen is almost like a 360 degree screen (maybe more like 200 degree screen) and gave me some slight dizziness from the movement. But at least it was short so I could handle.
Little Tip For those with an National Park System Cancellation Passport:
This museum is a part of the Mormon Pioneer Trail system and they have a cancellation stamp. It is NOT visibile and out. You need to ask someone at the Information Desk for it as it is in a drawer. Apparently people ask about it very infrequently (I only knew because I looked it up ahead of time).Written November 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We did this during the hottest time of day, and there’s no shade, so bring lots of water or do this early on the day. Still, it’s a nice relatively short hike right in Salt Lake City.Written July 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tia M167 contributionsCooler in the am so I took the fur baby to the park for an adventure. Our goal was to walk the perimeter.
There are a lot of homeless encampments but don’t let that stop you from enjoying this historical park.
The trails and paths are wide. Lots of people around during the day
Public pool and tennis courts
Tracy aviary
Paddle boats
Amusement park with carousel, Ferris wheel, yo-yo swing and mini train for quick ride
Food court
Good pricing considering it’s an amusement park
Lots of great photography locations and ops

- John BColbert, WA177 contributionsThe building was built as the Hotel Utah, now it is an office builfing.
The hotel opulence is still visible in the lobby and public area furnishings.
The Navoo cafe is on the ground floor and popular with locals and tourisys.
