What travelers are saying
- Alyzza E1 contributionThe view and weather is perfect. Although i think the seats in Sea Lion Show needs renovation or repair since it’s rusty and have cracks. Forest Grill had the best customer service and food. Great amount of serving.Written September 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nate LuminarioMandaluyong, Philippines134 contributionsThe place does not have much to offer. During our visit, inflatable was not available, beach was dirty because of the waves. Only facility available was swimming pool, which is small, there were only 3 groups at that time and the pool is already crowded. No towels, even rentable ones. They have a shop where you can buy towels.
Food in their menu are also overpriced compared to ither restaurants we tried in Subic.
Only good thing for me was the spacious parking area.Written September 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The cross has a height of 95m and is the 2nd tallest cross in the world.
Once you are on top, you will have an unobstructed 360 degree view of the Province of Bataan. And if the weather permits, you will get to see the view of parts of Bulacan, City of Manila as well as parts of Cavite. The cross is actually facing the 0 Kilometer landmark which is the Dr. Jose Rizal Monument in Luneta.
Before reaching the cross proper, you will have to make an uphill walk which will take a few minutes from the parking area of the shrine which you will be able to access only upon payment of Php 50 entrance fee.Written April 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I learned about outdoor survival from the Alta, a tribe of hunters and gatherers who live in the jungle on the island of Luzon, in the Philippines.
I spent two hours walking through the jungle with Noel my Aeta guide. Along the way he showed me how to identify and harvest edible plants and medicinal herbs. He also showed me how to find water in the jungle. In the photos below you see Noel and I drinking water from sections of a water vine Noel found the vine, cut it into sections and then gave me one to drink from, and drank from the other himself.
The Aeta rank among the best friends America has ever had. During World War Two they helped many Americans escape from Japanese POW camps and then led them to safety in Aeta villages. During the Vietnam War Aeta trained our special forces in outdoor survival. Many former American soldiers are alive today because of the training they got from the Aeta. Without it they surely would have died.
I had wanted to get outdoor survival training from the Aeta for a long time. It was on my bucket list. It was equally important for me to have the opportunity to express my gratitude to these wonderful people for being such good friends to my country.Written August 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Bag of toiletries and breakfast meals are handed in daily. The beach has nice fine sand and cleaned daily too. The accommodations are quite basic but ok. There are too many day trip cottages that the sand part is almost gone during high tide. The fun part during hightide are the cleanr waters with variety of sea creatures swimming.Written July 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - world_travelToronto, Canada91 contributionsThis is a simple volunteer-run pawikan (sea turtles) conservation centre. The season for baby turtles egg hatching is November to February. The Pawikan festival is end of November or early December. This is not a resort or production facility that can guarantee sightings and hatching of eggs which are pure nature!
Please manage expectations and be open to learning about the pawikan and the history of the conservation efforts of the volunteers. They do not get government funding and rely on donations and their own creative efforts to support operations (including basic guest accommodations with offering of educational activities). Please consider supporting, promoting and donating.
Contact Mr. Manolo, director and lead volunteer ( 09216302842) of the centre to plan your visit. Best to do so before you get to Morong since cell signal can be erratic. During the season of the laying of eggs / hatching season, you can ask him if he can reserve a few baby pawikan for you to sponsor the release. 50 pesos per baby pawikan as donation. Note that this is to raise some funds for operations. They have to release the baby turtles within the same day they are hatched as the babies have food stored and should be using the energy to swim when able. They will still release the baby turtles even if there are no guests/ sponsors. That is why it really depends on the timing and chance of your visit.
My family and I visited in January. Felt so blessed that there were eggs that hatched overnight that allowed us to release them to the sea the next morning. I communicated my interest to Mr. Manolo the day before. It was good since there were 2 other groups that also planned and reserved for that day.
Mr. Manolo provided us with educational information on pawikan, conservation and Morong. He and the other volunteers are locals who are trying their best to promote conservation and help the turtles. Amazing since he grew up when fishermen in their area didn't know better and ate/ sold these endangered animals.Written January 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kasaysayanmSan Fernando La Union, Philippines76 contributionsIt was an interesting exposure for our kids. We took the 2 hour activity in the morning and we ware lucky that there was only three groups/ families. The kids were happy to see the camp, and learn a few ideas from the activity. Paid 250 each for the kids, Partner hotels can give pass for discount of entrance fee.
The bird show was okay, took about 20mins.
Overall, the activity was okay but Jest Camp needs to innovate and add new things considering that the environment is huge and has lots of potential. The area needs to be improved, laid back since its opening.
The motivation and promotion for conservation needs to consider new ideas and keep up with the times. Kids learn a lot from school and from the media. Jest camp can build its unique conservation strategy.Written December 29, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AbizzuLuzon, Philippines23 contributionsWe went there with my family and with seniors in tow by cars. We walked to the falls,The road is quite muddybecause of the track of the horses who went there. We paid i think 50 to 60 pesos per pax. May guide naman. We arrived at the falls at least more or less 15 to 20 mins because we have senior citizens. The people are accommodating. Its a short trip. The falls is not really well taken care of. Alagan pa nila, so that it can be a real tourists attraction so that it can help their community. Theres a small fall and the big fall. The big one os deeper at 20' deep. We didnt go there because of the kids. Take care when youre going down the rocks, cement baka madulas kayo. Ingat lang.Written January 20, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Serek L1 contributionMy partner is from this town, her parents have a small shop opposite this cathedral. Was there in November of 2023 for the whole month. We went to this church every Sunday, it is stunning.
We are going back again this year to get married and I can't wait. The people were all so friendly and I was often getting people saying "hey Joe" as they believed I was American.Written April 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
