Fort Verde State Historic Park
#1 of 6 Sights & Landmarks in Camp Verde
Clean, enjoyed staying here for 1 week, we traveled several cities within 1 hour drive or less such as Cottonwood, Payson, Winslow, Prescott, Sedona, Jerome, and other sites with the city of Camp Verde, best place...
The ranger on duty gave us an outstanding talk on the history of the forts in Arizona, and some great information on the site at Fort Verde.
Montezuma Castle National Monument
#2 of 6 Sights & Landmarks in Camp Verde
Due to the National Park system’s care and preservation, everyone is able to view this historical treasure – and have an opportunity to do so in comfort (onsite restrooms, paved pathways, air conditioned store).

Verde Valley Archaeology Center
#3 of 6 Sights & Landmarks in Camp Verde

The curator was very interesting to hear how the Center was started, and the plans for the future site.

The views from the top, and the well itself will captivate your heart... Enjoy, and please give the beautiful sycamore a hug for me.
This is a smaller site than some, but it's location right on the edge of a deep natural spring, with a river nearby, and a hand built irrigation stream, makes it particularly memorable.

The resident docent, volunteer rangers are wonderful and help explain some of the mysteries behind one of the best preserved petroglyph sites in the southwest.
We had an excellent volunteer on site to explain the history, the solstices on the panels, and what archeologists are comfortable in commenting on what the symbols are drawings represent.
