We had a blast on our swamp tour while on our NOLA spring break trip, as did our two kids (16 & 13). Captain Ernest was incredibly knowledgeable and knew the swamp like the back of his hands. We learned more about alligators than we thought we would. He was humorous and made sure everyone enjoyed the trip. Highly recommend this tour and captain.

We knew we wanted to take a swamp tour while on our vacation in New Orleans and there were many companies/options. We ultimately chose Louisiana Tour Company because of the way they respond to the Trip Advisor reviews, especially the negative ones. It is always great to hear both sides of the story and their responses to reviews where the customer was clearly at fault made us feel very comfortable.

We opted for the transportation from our hotel and that went very well. We were outside early and the bus was right on schedule (a little early even). They have multiple buses on routes around the city and then we all met up at one location to get everyone consolidated onto one bus that took us to the swamp. The drivers were in constant communication with both dispatch and other drivers to ensure everyone was picked up in the most efficient manner possible. Very well coordinated.

The tour itself was incredible!!! We opted for the small airboat tour and we were not disappointed. The slightly more expensive upgrade over the large airboat tour was well worth it to us. Everyone was close to the edge of the boat and had great photo opportunities. Our tour guide, Ian, was the highlight. It was clear that he has a real passion for everything in the swamp from the Cyprus trees to the alligators. He gave us an incredible amount of knowledge that made this more than a swamp tour. He had a huge respect for the wildlife and he ensured we got close but without making the gators uncomfortable. It is also clear that some of the alligators have respect for Ian, as well.

The highlight for me was having multiple alligators swimming around our boat. The highlight for my wife was getting to hold "Fluffy" the baby alligator. After Fluffy was passed around, my wife was the last one holding him. Ian asked her if she wanted to hold him while he interacted with the large alligators swimming around us or if she wanted him to put him back in his box. She opted to hold him and for the next 15 minutes I had to listen to why we need a pet alligator at home!

Some thoughts/recommendations: This was a bucket list trip and likely the only time we will ever get a chance to go on an airboat. If you can afford the cost over the standard tour, book the airboat. The large airboat looked ok as well but you may be in a middle seat, farther away from the action. Both airboat options get you into much smaller areas, deeper into the swamp. The main tour boat has to stay in larger channels and it can't get as up close and personal with the wildlife. I am sure the tour was excellent as well but the airboat is absolutely exhilarating! It felt like gliding on air when we were moving at high speed!

Overall I could not recommend this company more. Everything ran like clockwork from the pick-up all the way to the drop off back at the hotel. The staff were all super throughout. If you can find your way onto Ian's boat you will be in for a treat!

One of the highlights of our trip. We all had a blast. Our guide was great, even let us hold and pet his baby alligator. I’d consider this a must for anyone visiting for the first time, or has not yet done something like this.

Today Melinda took us in her bus out to the swamp boat tour. She is a great driver and kept us busy with the many facts that she provided during the drive. Captain Larry kept us entertained with facts of the swamps and bayous. He made sure that we saw lots of alligators in the water. He threw out many marshmallows sure helped.
My wife and I would do this one again.
    Thank you!

Our guide, Trey, was very funny & informative too. He knew exactly where to take us to see several alligators and even had a young gator for us to hold.

Lucas, our tour guide was absolutely fabulous as well as his horse, Praline. Navigating the French Quarter, The Garden District and Marigny; there were plenty of stories and fun facts to be told. We seriously learned so much. Because of the rain during the afternoon, my friend and I were the only tourists on the last ride of the day. Lucas and Praline were troopers too because we had a torrential downpour during our tour. Lucas, you made our day, hope to come back to bring along more friends and family. Until next time…..

Loved it! Lucas was our guide and he was fun and informative. He told us great stories about the history of New Orleans. We had a great group. I would highly recommend this tour. Lucas made us feel welcome and the trip enjoyable; and Kudos to Praline (the mule) - she was quite the lady. Next we come to visit your city we will do again. Thank you.

Our transportation tour guide Isabelle was an unexpected highlight of the day! She included an informative and entertaining tour of the city during passenger pickup and travel to each location, and took great care of us overall. The bayou portion of our tour was beautiful and exciting, again with top notch service from our knowledgeable airboat captain. The plantation and grounds are lovely, while the history is both inspiring and heartbreaking. I highly recommend Tours by Isabelle to experience the best!

We went to Oak Alley Plantation first. Our driver gave us a lot of information on the way to the plantation, which was about an hour away. We were a bit rushed due to an accident on the interstate and road construction near the hotels, The big house had a guided tour by a docent, but the grounds were self guided. Not enough time to eat in the cafe, but be sure to get something from the self serve foods before leaving for the swamp.

The swamp tour was about a half hour back towards the city. New driver was silent most of the trip. We took the swamp boat which was a more leisurely trip through the swamps. Captain was excellent, and very informative. Saw a few Alligators, some turtles and a blue heron. Saw the impact of the canals and levies on the swamp, and how the shrinking of the swamp lands is affecting the state.

We wanted to see alligators and we were not disappointed! The guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. He knew exactly where to go to get some great photos. Also, the boat was easy to get on and off for my elderly mother.
