What travelers are saying
- Joan CReserve, NM858 contributionsWe did not go into the part of the fort that required a pass or payment. We only went to the visitor center and walked around the grounds of the fort.
The visitor center had a small exhibit about the history of different peoples, Native Americans, primarily, who were involved in the settlement of the fort. The storyboards highlight the roles of women, Natives, and the few African Americans involved.
The gift shop is small and primarily has books. The book collection is curated and varied and looked like there was something for just about any reader. There are also some jewelry items and a few regionally produced gifts items, like Pendleton products (the woolen mills, not the distillery).
Really, this park is a great outdoor park with plenty of open space to run around, lay around, or walk your dog. Lots of doggy people were out when we were there. Great spot for a picnic in nice weather. Overall, it was a great place to spend a sunny afternoon in Vancouver for free.Written 15 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cindy CHailey, ID182 contributionsHad a couple hours to kill before attending a nearby memorial for one of my cousins. Easy to find parking near the trail. Took a walk one hour south. Zillions of people enjoying this trail and area. The river is beautiful, cafes available fronting the trail, obviously a favorite with both locals and visitors. I will come back for a jog or walk next time I am in town!Written 24 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joan CReserve, NM858 contributionsThe recently developed Vancouver waterfront has great paved trails for walking and biking. The promenade is wide and there is plenty of room for everyone. It looks like there are spots for buskers along the way. It's fairly long, so you can get in a decent length walk with scenic river views. We've been along here many times in different seasons and never yet has it felt unsafe or creepy. Highly recommend.Written 15 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Dan SVancouver, WA28 contributionsThe history of this mansion includes presiding over Vancouver Barracks, a prominent Army installation that served this region, the country, and our Pacific theater during World War II. Its most famous resident was (then) Brigadier General George C. Marshall, whose very non-political leadership saw the growth of our military from 188,000 in 1939 to over 8 million by the end of the war. Further, his wisdom and persuasive abilities led to what later became known as the "Marshall Plan" - for which he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953.Written 13 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cindy CHailey, ID182 contributionsCrossed bridge as part of my river walk. I was impressed the City of Vancouver and probably some local non-governments organizations have attempted to give some of the history and highlights of several Indian tribes that utilized the Columbia. We are so good at forgetting that others lived on the land sustainably for centuries before our European ancestors "discovered" North America!Written 24 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nathan USan Jose, CA959 contributionsFantastic, spacious farmers market with dozens of vendors. Great balance of veggies, fruit, and food with a cordial ambience of music around the market. - mtu_huskiesLa Crosse, WI249 contributionsRight next to Fort Vancouver this is a must stop if you're in the area. It's small but very interesting for plans and the lumberyard that was on this site at one time. The flight from Russia to the US was also interesting.Written 1 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul & Sue GWest Hartford, CT38 contributionsGreat place to walk and enjoy nature. Activities around as people fish, swimming area, playgrounds, large grass areas, public restrooms, etc.
Saw a family of deer. Parts of the park can be noisy due to freeway traffic. But didn’t detour us from enjoying the walking trail. Good place to veg. We went for Second Saturday, and the 13 year olds enjoyed it. We also enjoyed walking on the trails and looking at birds. - Greg WVancouver, WA220 contributionsGreat park for boating or hiking. Great for dogs as well. Nice restrooms. Number of paved paths for those needing them. Only small drawback is a slope of soft sand going down to the water if you are using a wagon/cart to get your boat/kayak or other stuff to the water's edge.Written 7 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
