- lotsagoldensSurprise, AZ857 contributionsWow, did we walk a lot -- this place is enormous. There is so much to see that it's overwhelming. Even if you are not really into airplanes, go for the historical experience. It's just so well-curated. No matter what chapter of history you are interested in (Wright Brothers and on), there are displays and uniforms to see and read. There are a number of interactive displays, also -- I saw many kids using them. We were lucky enough to talk to several retired aviators and members of the Air Force; maybe because it was a Saturday, there seemed to be a lot of them around. By the time we covered most of the inside of the building, we were beat, so we skipped all the planes outside. Amazingly, it's FREE to get in!Written 26 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MNDoodlesStillwater, MN653 contributionsThis beautiful open-air park with its historic buildings, the original Wright flyer 3, and numerous great historic collections inside the buildings was a fantastic and fun experience for my husband and me. The volunteer interpretive guides were THE BEST we’ve encountered anywhere, and elevated the experience to excellent. We loved the transportation building with gorgeous restored trolley and rail cars, the oldest locomotive in the US and more. The printing press building is awesome. You can buy great paper items printed there for bargain basement prices and the Wright Flyer 3 is amazing to see in-person. We loved this place; spent 4 hours and could easily have spent more time had schedules allowed. We classify this as a must-see site when in Dayton.Written 15 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

We had a wonderful afternoon exploring the entire permanent collection and finishing up in the special exhibit room. The figures were delightful and well-labeled. We were only disappointed that the museum store did not have any products featuring the exhibit items; not even a postcard!Written 7 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CookieDayton, OH42 contributionsSpent 5 hours here with 5 yr old and 2 yr old grandsons. Could have stayed longer but it probably was enough considering their ages. Took in several of the space center shows and an experiment in the lab.Written 23 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - April SLakewood, CO16 contributionsWe needed up driving around the place because my mom cannot walk very far but a ton of people were out walking. The place is huge and there are a ton of beautiful trees and headstones to check out. We found the Wright Brothers, walked up to the look out, and checked out the Veterans area. Such a beautiful place, full of history.Written 10 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- plains16Rapid City, SD180 contributionsWe had a blast walking around the site. The trolls are intricate and placed in fun locations.
There are two entrances. The main one was packed and it took us about 20 minutes to buy tickets on a sunday afternoon.Written 23 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We just wanted a place to go for a walk but this historic working farmstead was more than we expected. Hannah was a wealth of knowledge and told great stories about the Arnold family. It is free but everything is very well done and presented. Perfect for history buffs, young families, or anyone interested in learning about Ohio farming. We spent two hours there but it is easy in and out with small children. We will be back!Written 23 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kelly CathcartValparaiso, IN1,202 contributionsThis park along the river is very nice. When the weather allows it seems there is food stands and kayaks to rent. We were there in not great weather but I am sure this would be a great place to kayak. It is a great place to walk and get away from traffic and noise of the city no matter the weather.Written 24 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sherpa2607752 contributionsSmall, but very nice, visitor center. The re-created village behind the visitor center is extremely interesting! - Teardrop Trailer TravelerUnited States731 contributionsHuffman Prairie is one of those sites that is significant not because of what is there, but because of what happened there. This large, empty field is the world's first airport!
The visitor center was closed on the day of my visit, but the field itself was accessible. There are information plaques placed around a walking loop, which allows for a self-guided tour. The site also has a replica hangar as well as the rail from which the earlier Flyers were launch.
The location is adjacent to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and the base's long runway is visible. This gives a cool compression of the large modern airfield to the small first-every airfield.Written 30 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
