A selection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's medieval art collection is housed in this beautiful re-creation of a French monastery and sits atop of Fort Tryon Park with scenic views of the adjacent Hudson River. It felt like a hidden gem as it wasn't overly crowded when we visited on a Saturday afternoon and strolling around this beautiful building and grounds is almost as enjoyable as the viewing the art found inside. Make sure to include having a drink in the outdoor cafe located in a lovely courtyard. Although overpriced, it provides a relaxed experience in a beautiful setting. Getting to the Met Cloisters requires some effort as it is located at the extreme northwest end of Upper Manhattan, but the subway stops nearby, and it is a pleasant and only mildly strenuous hike through the park. Closed on Wednesdays. $30 entrance fee but this also provides same day entrance to the main Metropolitan Museum of Art location as well.

Located downtown in financial district, you can take the ferry into or out of New York from here and then get to Ellis Island and Liberty Island (to see the status of Liberty and immigration museums.
It’s expansive, green and quite beautiful. Just be careful as there are too many people illegally selling cruises to the islands which are scams. There are food trucks and carts around too but these are typically more expensive than what it costs out of the park.

I love to come here as a refuge for the busy city and the best time here is spring. The well maintained flower beds, specimen trees and shrubs snd well maintained walks make this a great spot to relax and recharge. Many young families pushing carriages, school children after their hours snd bus loads of visitors flock here. Great spot to picnic or just hang out or stroll with loved ones 0 seconds Molly one of the best spots to visit located at 105 street and fifth avenue with the opening at the Vanderbilt gate.

We loved these unique statues/fountains. The gardens looked so pretty and relaxing with the beautiful flowers. It would be a lovely place to sit with an ice cream.

We went there for lunch. Although there were numerous places to purchase meals the lines were very long. We were on a tour and our time was limited. The Winter Gardens is a beautiful venue.

In the shadow of Belvedere Castle is Shakespeare Garden. I discovered it by accident but I was glad I did. It is a small well tended area with a variety of different flowers growing. Whilst I was there a number of volunteers were working to make the garden look nice which was good to see.

When I visited there were still some things to see even though it was not the season for flowers in bloom.

There are pubic toilets nearby as well just in case nature calls ;)

Nice for a stroll and to escape the crowds. Visited on Christmas and found it beautiful but really can't wait to go again on spring or summer.

It really is an oasis of tranquility in the heart of Greenwich Village. So many beautiful plants and flowers. It was quite thrilling.

Went here with my mom and enjoyed great views with some wind shelter and sunshine. Could definitely be improved, but not bad for March. Tried to find/use elevator, but it was not accessible due to construction. Would definitely return with coffee or lunch.

Nice little spot in Central park where you can avoid the crowds. Only saw a handful of people while in there and there were plenty of places to sit and relax.

This special garden has an interesting history and is a testament to what can be done when people work together for the betterment of their neighborhood. It’s free to visit on Sundays 1:00-4:00, April-November. Talk to one of the volunteers to get the whole story. If you’re in the Upper West Side it’s a must do, but I don’t suggest going cross town just to see it because it’s pretty small.

Wandering around the West Village and had one of the "locals " direct me to this little slice of natural beauty and peaceful contemplation. A number of short, but curved paths taking maximum advantage of the limited space. Lots of different flowers and bushes with many benches and seats. Lovely

This little community garden is always lovely, but don't miss the tulips this week, as they are at their peak! If you miss the tulips, summer flowers follow in this beautiful Upper Westside Oasis.
I am a regular here, as I am frequently in the neighborhood. A great place to bring a cup of coffee in the morning and read the paper.

A big breath of fresh air in NYC among the jungle of buildings and chaos. Central Park is a massive beautiful park always filled with energy and positive vibes. Whether you’re just visiting or taking a stroll through the park, the experience and amazing maintenance of the park are unbelievable.

Proximate to the Cloister Museum in Washington Heights is Fort Tryon Park.
In the parlk, is the Heather Garden which is managed by a non profit organization and volunteers. They provided a walking tour along with photos of the history of the park.

This is a great "botanical garden" in every way, and worth the special trip, along with a "must see" visit to the Cloister Museum, and the great view of the Hudson River.
