- NikkiAsheville, NC32 contributionsI absolutely love the arboretum. It is one of my favorite places to walk with my dog and bike. I have been an annual member for many years. The flowers are also pretty when in season. You can walk to lake Powaton from the arboretum and vice versa. There are many unique trails and beautiful wild life.Written August 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - paulagaleMcLean, VA182 contributionsWe had a blast. We went on a Wednesday and took the advice to arrive before opening. There were people like us there before open, about 25…. But not a lot …. There are a few machines that you can’t play but no more than 5 or six. Three machines require money to play. All the rest are included in the $17 entrance fee. And you can play one machine as long as you want.. they don’t let people guilt you into leaving a machine. I knew I would enjoy but I had so much fun. And if you keep your wrist bracelet on you can leave and go back in on the same day. We ended up going back in after dinner! Really great place. I would hesitate to call it a museum but they have signs above each machine telling when it was produced and how many were made. So you get some info. I would highly recommend to anyone who loves to play.Written September 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - madelineAsheville, NC56 contributionsMy family and I come to the Nature Center often. We have had the most luck seeing the most animals early in the morning or on cool days. When it is hot or late in the day they all seem to be sleeping and are sometimes hard to see during that time. We always start with the Otters and circle back to them. If they aren’t swimming or visible during our first stop we always see them on the 2nd stop. In all of our trips we have never seen every animal in one trip. They have lots of good places to hide to sleep. In addition to the animals there are lots of play areas to break up the time and picnic tables for a lunch or snacks.Written April 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kellyahan72 contributionsA cute shopping area. Disappointed with the amount of chain stores that were there and not boutiques and then disappointed with the boutique prices. But it is a beautiful area and I enjoy the German architecture in the area.Written July 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eaton_OutGreenville, SC635 contributionsThis is physically a very nice outlet mall but it is still missing some key players (Ecco Shoes is one that comes to mind). Tanger just bought this mall and hopefully they will bring in new stores. The Dillards Outlet has been cleaned up and a lot of old merchandise moved out but......it is overwhelming and the mall would be better served if this store left and an array of new smaller stores were recruited.Written January 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Safari642035353781 contributionWe sat in the Bojangles suite area and it was fantastic. The price was amazing and you get all the food, bottled water, and coke you want for free. The guys played well and it was great entertainment!Written June 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cjyapGriswold, CT913 contributionsNature Preserve/Arboretum yes, botanical garden, no, maybe in its dreams. That said, it is a quiet refuge, a nice slice of nature. Not very big, and easy walk and thoroughly enjoyable and it's free.Written May 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ManningAvengerSellersburg, IN1,996 contributionsThis was a good place to learn about the Parkway, from the exhibits to the gift shop. We enjoyed the film about the Parkway, showing us about the construction and the scenery along the way. Good place to learn about a jewel in our National Park Service.Written August 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Goodcall4 contributionsWe had 3 generations going to Tom's Creek Falls and we all enjoyed it. Picturesque trail along creek provides beautiful backdrop. Mostly level. Falls worth seeing.Written July 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jgbtravelsLouisville, KY4,628 contributionsAlthough one of my sisters was disappointed in not finding some cheeses, etc. I felt that it was a considerable sized farmers market for a city this size. Now we did pick up some strawberries and peaches and did find some unusual jelly to take back to her husband. It’s a good place to stretch your legs after a long ride to get to Asheville and find a few things to eat for later at the vrbro. OK, the South Carolina peaches do not taste as good as the Georgia peaches but the strawberries were very good,Written June 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jgbtravelsLouisville, KY4,628 contributionsFortunately there was an arts and crafts fair when we went that made it worthwhile to get off the trolley and peruse the merchandise. In fact I picked up some cute earrings for my daughter. It really looked festive that day. Of course there is that monument base where I believe there was a Confederate statue that has since been removed. I did see one homeless person stumble through the area but nothing compared to what one reviewer saw a couple of years ago. The arts and crafts show was on a Saturday if that helps.Written June 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dmelio3 contributionsTo the negative reviews- this is a private lake, and you must've been behaving poorly to get 'harassed' or fined. I've lived in Asheville most of my life, and never have had any trouble. Anyone can go for a walk or run here. Get a pass if you want to bring your dog, or you could be fined. It closes at dark, so you could be fined for trespassing. I only don't give it 5 stars because so much of it is walking on gravel, I just personally hate how that feels, and there a bits by the road that are annoying. Otherwise, it's a really lovely man-made lake! The bird sanctuary adjoining it is quite nice too (It's a quiet area, no runners).Written January 20, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VC1850Washington DC, DC68 contributionsLots of information packed into a small space. There’s a lot of hands- on engaging parts, including playing on a mini Moog, with an instructional video. Even my teen who didn’t want to go ended up being engaged.Written August 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Firsttimer59Charlotte, NC153 contributionsWe had some extra time for one day while traveling from Asheville to Flat Rock. We did a hike to a waterfall and then played putt putt and then headed to Carrier Park with our 6 year old grandson. This park had a lot of things to do. It had walking and bicycle paths. The playground area was set up like a fort with slides. The park was set up in a circular way where the playground area and skating rink were in the middle. Then there was a hockey area where teams could play. Around the outside was a circular area for bicycles for race competitions. Very nice park.Written October 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
