The house and grounds are everything they promise to be and more. My issue was transportation. It is not we’ll set up for people who didn’t drive there. You have to pay $15/person for the “ express shuttle” if you want to travel from the main house to the antler village and winery (5 miles away) or Amherst (3 miles away) for the special exposition. The shuttle only runs once an hour, and although it was scheduled to come at 2:30 even though I was there at 2:28 I still missed it and had to wait an hour at Amherst for the next shuttle which happened to be the last one for the day! If you go, plan on driving. They have plenty of free shuttles to and from the parking lots.

Beautiful grounds. Nice walking trails and amazing bonsai collection. Great place to stop and rest and breathe in fresh mountain air and take in the gardens. There is also a small eatery with tasty treats and kombucha.

If the work of local craftsmen using traditional materials interests you, this is a must-see. While no one was actively demonstrating their skills during our visit, their efforts were well displayed. My particular favorites were the beautifully crafted quilts mounted on the walls and the many wooden products. Although I planned to buy nothing, a gorgeous cherry burl bowl with inset walnut shells convinced me otherwise. My friend bought a lovely wooden spoon as a housewarming gift. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

This is the best first thing to do when you get to Asheville. Tons of great information and ideas. You'll learn about things available to do you did't even know existed. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. It aslo where you board the trolley for the historic tour (highly recommend)

Awesome place to have fun with family and friends. Three rooms filled with pindball machines and old electric games. The establishment is clean, filled with nostalgic posters, toys, pictures, and background musics. There are plenty of machines to play with and old machines on display. The staff is professional, friendly, and helpful. We had a great time and you will too.

This church is an exciting architectural structure. It was designed by a Spanish engineer and builder whose work is well-known in New York City. He invented an arch system means of supporting structures. The church's interior is a wonderful example and you can easily see the interlocking design. I loved the stain glass story of Jesus told in windows along the perimeter of the church. We were very curious about so many things and staff was incredibly knowledgeable.

Fantastic glassblowing in action. Their gallery has one-of-a-kind pieces that are so very lovely! Again, watching them creating the glassworks was really, really neat. We're go back again in a heartbeat.

What a lovely spot! When we visited, only the art studio was open. We loved this gallery; high quality work; we loved the variety of art forms. Feel fortunate to have a piece of artwork to take back to the midwest....Enjoyed some of the outdoor visitors as well!

Loved the nostalgia! I was surprised they didn't have burgers but other than that the food was fine. Was surprised that it was situated in a two floor building but was cool to see all of the art on display and for sale.

An amazing nature center. Many different animals I have never seen at zoos. A lot of them were sleeping but still got to see them. Have a membership pass and will be back. Highly recommend. Loved the birds and cougar.

What a great experience! I learned so much, about Wolf and his life and about his family especially his mother.
Start with the film and the museum. Then you are ready for the tour of his childhood home/his mother’s boarding house.
Our guide Stephen was really good. The house and all its room would be an attraction in itself even without the connection to T Wolf.
    Highly recommend!

Would have given New Belgium brewing 5-stars. . .couldn’t do it because they close too early and their food truck left something to be desired.

The brewery has an amazing location right on the French Broad. The space is huge and offers a wide variety of seating, both indoors and outdoors. The cider and beer are delicious. But New Belgium needs to step up their game and build a kitchen to offer food. And frankly, closing at 8pm is ridiculous.

Nice little ranger station up there at a pretty high altitude. The drive there from Asheville is rather twisty and turning but pleasant, with great views. You can buy gifts and books at the ranger station. Bathrooms can be closed, especially late in the season. Best to go before driving up there because otherwise it is porta potties.

We stumbled upon this area and loved walking around and exploring. Great variety and a cool, funky feel. They could use better signage. It was hard to determine what was open and what was closed. Some places looked uninviting and we weren't sure we could go in.

Christmas at the Biltmore was wonderful. The wine tasting, the tour of the estate, the lovely holiday decorations are all throughout the estate and breakfast was delicious
