The very best entertainment for any age. Every time I travel to SF I find time to visit the Exploratorium because there is so much to do with my granddaughters and I could never finish exploring the hands-on science exhibits that enthrall all of us. Good for ALL ages. I cannot say enough about the learning that happens while you spend the day. There is even a cafe. Easily take a day or two or .... Great place! Nice people working there.

This was a very comprehensive experience. It started with Walt’s grandparents so you got a flavour of the type of upbringing he received from his parents and grandparents. It gave us all kinds of little tidbits on him as a young man and his early career. We really liked the special exhibit – cats and dogs. Just be prepared to walk a fair amount to get to a separate building for this exhibit. We really enjoyed this and would highly recommend it to any Disney fan.

Brilliant little museum, very interesting, and great to see the actual cables that run the whole cable car system round San Fransisco.

Fabulous hidden gem in Fisherman's Wharf. We loved looking at and playing on the old style arcade games that have been lovingly retro-fitted for modern coins. A museum of fun, and was a surprise find during our walk around the Wharf.

Would recommend popping in for a visit to have fun back in time.

The de Young does not disappoint. I’ve been a handful of times and I always discover something new. The exhibits rotate frequently enough that I’m newly engaged each time. The special collections are not to be missed as they are nicely curated and beautifully displayed. Take a moment to sit quietly and enjoy the view of the sculpture garden. The staff are very friendly and offer special hands-on programs for all ages. This museum is well worth the price of admission and your time.

Super interesting, very fun. Also very accessible for non-tech people. I’ll come back with more people on my next trip to SF.

Little over priced. But pretty neat if you’ve never been in a submarine. Your is self guided/ on your phone. If you have mobility issues this is not the place for you.

When else do you get the opportunity to explore the halls and ladders of an old war ship? It was great fun getting to not just stand on deck but get up close and personal with all the details of this ship. We only stopped because we saw the sign and were a bit hesitant but I am so glad we jumped on the chance.

If you're into history or old sailing ships, this place is super fun!
You get to see cool views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Bay! Check out the Balclutha, an old ship from the late 1800s. Walk on the deck, discover various parts of the ship, and find out how they sailed and lived on it.

A hidden jewel in downtown San Francisco! We discovered it on a rainy afternoon. Wonderful historical artifacts which really tell the story of SF from its origins to recent times. Displays about Stagecoaches and the 1906 Earthquake were especially interesting. Docent/curator Joycee added lots of insight and really made it a wonderful visit!

Some lovely artifacts. A sense of the history. A highly engaged staff. A nice little shop. Some level of rotation so not a just one time place.

It was a rainy day so we opted to visit the waxworks. Ordinarily this wouldn’t be on my list, as I’m not a fan. But I admit I was surprised how good it was, especially if you interact with the exhibits for fun photos.
Liked Charlie Chan, Bruce Lee, Muhammed Ali, Johnny Depp, Adele, and all of the rest.
We had a good laugh and enjoyed our time there.

Good museum for youngsters in beautiful Buena Vistas Park. Engaging activities scattered about in wide open spaces. Staff seemed available but not as engaging as I would have expected. Nonetheless, our three year old granddaughter seemed to enjoy her visit, especially the unique sand table and dancing circles.

A fantastic and free museum in Fisherman's wharf that is easily overlooked. If you are coming by Fisherman's wharf this is a must-see. It's free, impressively put together, and you can spend as much time as you want depending on how interested you are. Provides a great history on the ports and shipping yards of SF if you're curious to learn.
