I saw the photographs of the rock stars from the 60's, including an upstairs pass to the orginal Abby Road photographs and more recent "pop" and political icons. The gallery staff were pleasant and low key with no pressure to buy. We were allowed to simply enjoy the display. They said they frequently handle this type of material.
The owner was a fantastic lady. She was down-to-earth, knowledgeable, hospitable, and pleasant. We got a book by the artist thrown in with our purchase. If you like upbeat pieces and a no-pressure atmosphere, give this place a gander.
Keane Eyes Gallery is located on Art Gallery Row on Geary Street in San Francisco. It features some of Margaret Keane's art with the famous "Big Eyes" - during my visit the gallery was unfortunately closed and their hours are not publicized, so visiting may be hit or miss. However, one could take a peek through the glass displays and see the artwork. It would have been great to be inside to see the work up close, but there are other galleries to visit on the same street as well.
