We loved these steps, enjoyed the little bit of exercise. Looking at all the gardens and places on the way up. Going down you get to see a different view. Def recommend this one

This area is also known as "East Beach" by locals. It was an excellent place to watch the air show, including the Blue Angels during Fleet Week. I looked into buying tickets for the air show in the viewing area at Marina Green. But they were $125 each! That's crazy. The east side of the beach, between the yacht club and GG Bridge was perfect and free! We had a great view of the show and there was plenty of space for everyone. There were lots of people but plenty of room to spread out.

Walk up to the top and visit Coit Tower, especially the great mural inside. The views from the top of the hill of the Bay and downtown are superb. The neighborhood around is special and real.

A hidden gem in San Francisco. Did this as part of a day walking round SF. It is a place the locals go to work out. Steep steps but what a view and surrounded by beautiful houses and gardens. Worth doing but you need to be fit.

Cool neighborhood to shop hip stores and have lunch at one of the trendy restaurants. It is only a few blocks long but definitely worth going.

We loved this lane as it is known as Barbary Lane in Tales of the City, a show we loved. As its title it is a lane and all the homes open directly out onto it. The gardens are beautiful and it is very tranquil and peaceful from the hustle and bustle. You can then continue using the Vallejo steps to North Beach but look out when coming back this way as they are very steep and it feels like a trillion steps, and I will not miss them! We took the gorgeous walk through Greenwich Steps going downhill from Coit Tower, and we were glad we did, as the way itself is simply wonderful.
Make sure, though, to walk DOWN the steps, as the way up is VERY difficult, even for fit travellers.

A very long street that crosses many neighborhoods. We were on it today downtown in the Financial District where you will find lots of modern skyscrapers. But you can ride the Cable Car up Nob Hill and beyond. Way out west you will find the Richmond District, residential and shopping.

We were walking around the neighborhood and stopped in our tracks to see the unprecedented views. Worth the detour!

Enjoy the beautiful views from the Promenade as you walk away from the hustle and bustle of the City. Not as crowded as the streets and sidewalks.

The quickest route from Coit Tower down to the Embarcadero. It winds through gardens, past homes perched on terraces on the side of Telegraph Hill. So peaceful and calm, tranquil really.

Nice stairway. The steps themselves aren't fancy but the surrounding gardens and views are nice. It's a short walk down the the Castro.

This long street runs from the Castro Street neighborhood into the Mission and over to Noe Valley. Along the way are some wonderful Victorian houses and a big hill.

This is the north-south corridor after you get off the freeway that takes you all the way to the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park by the waterfront. Along the way one can see the San Francisco City Hall, the Opera House and the Davis Symphony Hall but most of the time you will be looking at the bumper of the car in front of you.
