I love this place. A big beautiful dome to behold. We went on a Friday and saw several people doing their wedding photos. It’s just kind of neat to walk around and each time I have been there. There has been an interesting set of exhibits including famous wedding certificates, some challenging contemporary art and more. Tours are available and I imagine they are wonderful, but I have not taken one.

I'd read "Shanghai Girls" so wanted to visit the place so vividly depicted in the novel. Plus, I'd recently been to Ellis Island, where my family landed so long ago.

The tour is sobering as it touches on the exclusion policies. Seeing depictions of barracks life and the foreign writing etched into the tired old wooden walls again made me realize how much people sacrificed for a better life.

The setting on Angel Island is idyllic. Miles away from the chaos of the city, yet you can hear distant fog horns and train whistles.

There is much to explore here, both historic and scenic. I'm very glad I spent the day here.

It's closed to tours, but the outside is very cool, you can walk around it. There are some nice spots around to sit and enjoy, including sitting down with a coffee.

On my walk in San Francisco I took photos and visited the old Federal Reserve Bank Building. It is now the Bentey Building. In front of the building is also the bronze sculpture called:Hermes and Dyonus Monument.

Classic design for a federal office building, this time housing a very important court that affects all of the US. On a very busy street with traffic coming from South of Market and headed into the downtown and Nob Hill. You will probably drive quickly by and hardly notice it, but it is grand.

This stately building is an important part of the Civic Center area. The architecture is harmonious with City Hall and the old Opera House. The building itself includes a lovely theater that is used for many different functions, including concerts. It's surprisingly intimate.

Anyone who appreciates architecture will enjoy a tour of this building built in 1911 as the Custom House. Currently several other federal agencies inhabit the building. Visitors should appear at the security desk and ask if a tour is available. The tour lasts about 45 minutes. The day I arrived I was the only person & and a personal tour. Tours are given from 9:30 - 4:00 and subject to the availability of a guide.

We went to talk to some people while we were at the Presidio area of San Francisco.
The Presidio Trust is a federal agency created to save the Presidio and transform it for a new national purpose.

This new government building had serious flaws from the day it opened. Folks were hopeful that it would help turn this poor neighborhood around, but that did not happen until lots of new luxury apartments were built. Not very distinguished architecture.

Don't waste your time even looking in the direction of this building. It's a sad building on a hill off of market Street. They could offer tours, but they don't.

People come here for the jail, or often for jury duty. It's a particularly ugly building and not one that you want to spend time at or in the area, which is drab.

I was on a hop on hop off tour of San Franisco. The tour guide, who was quite amusing to listen to, described the United States Federal Office Building as the ugliest building in San Francisco. It is in the civic center area.
