- bea matherCambridge, UK26 contributionsI loved this beach. I was a bit hesitant when deciding to go, because one review said 'too sandy' but after consideration its a beach, and a beach has sand. The water is so clear and beautiful and so is the area around it.Written 27 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nichole MHagatna, Mariana Islands79 contributionsBeautiful beach! We brought inner tubes and floated around. Lots of rock/ tide pools where we were. Purple coral and tiny blue fish.
Just be aware that the road is gated and closes at 4pm. Also, go slow on your way there as the roads can be slippery— there was no sign to warn us that a sharp right curve was coming up so we drifted a little *scary* When you get to the marine park, turn left, not right (google maps says right).Written 14 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The water is breathtaking and stunningly gorgeous. There’s a lot of shells and pieces of coral. Would Definitely recommend water shoes. The snorkeling here is also very good and the water very clear. The parking is only open til 6 pm. Have been a couple times already this stay and planning a third.Written 27 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Burberry76Oahu, HI57 contributionsI came on Easter Sunday and it was closed. It was still nice to visit and take photos. Great love story and worth going to see.Written 4 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- R K LSeattle, WA2,396 contributionsThe Chamorro Village Night Market on Wednesday nights was worth going early for dinner. There were multiple food stands from which to choose, and we took our meals to go back to our hotel. Too many people without masks.Written 14 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Brittany BShinjuku, Japan145 contributionsWe visited this mall a couple times over our stay. Quite a few stores, some unique to Guam and some major recognizable brands. Prices were a bit high, but kind of expected given things have to be shipped in. The food court had a ton of options which was really great, but it looks like it hasn't been updated since the late 1980s.Written 10 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael MKihei, HI296 contributionsWe went diving here several times and really enjoyed it. Easy access to the beach from the parking lot, just follow the twin pipes out until it gets deep enough to descend. There is some boat traffic so make sure to tie off a dive marker on the pipes once you reach 5 meters depth. You can follow the slope either right or left shoulder, I liked it better on the right. Clear blue water and quite a few turtles. Apparently people sometimes see mantas but we didn't. The slope is gradual, for the most part we stayed above 20 meters but you can go quite deep - I was surprised to see two turtles at about 30 meters.Written 12 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brittany BShinjuku, Japan145 contributionsI was a little disappointed in this outlet mall. While it had more stores than some other shopping centers on the island, I felt like there wasn't a lot to choose from. We did enjoy the Ross though, even if the line took nearly an hour to get through.Written 10 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roberta SHagatna, Mariana Islands4 contributionsOverall an experience worthy of our time and money once. Food was excellent, although the entree size was disappointing (the filet size was probably not more than 2 oz and very small lobster tail) considering the cost ($99 per person). The drinks were definitely amazing. They sat us in the family with children area and, unfortunately, the table behind us had very small and understandably fussy babies. Not mad at the babies, but perhaps the the restaurant management should organize tables according to age, not group all children together in an area. Overall a cool one-time experience. Had it been cheaper or the food been more filling, we'd do it a second time.Written 7 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Christina B6 contributionsNice little visit, with a couple pretty waterfront areas to explore. My kids and I had fun looking for little beach treasures even though we weren't allowed to keep any of them.Written 14 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sinewavewaMount Vernon, WA24 contributionsAs with so many beaches on guam, the water is clear. - Brittany BShinjuku, Japan145 contributionsThis is a gorgeous beach, even though it's a bit difficult to access with the destroyed bridge from Gun Beach. You can easily wade across though as the water is about waist deep, at most. This beach was deserted for most of the day, which was amazing. We also saw so many blue starfish here!Written 10 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- R2RondonSenoia, GA220 contributionsThis is a free mini adventure... hike, cave, cliff and more. Although the GPS might take you to the entrance, it is a bit hard to identify/locate since the sign is a bit hidden. You will have to park on the shoulder of GU-15. The total hike is approximate one (1) mile it is slightly marked by prior visitors. I will rate the hike medium to slightly hard. The hike start easily with a normal trail. Be advise, we saw a monitor lizard and few spiders. Then the hike begins to get a bit rocky while a slight climb down. This portion will lead you to the cave. The cave is very dark. Make sure you are dressed properly and have a VERY good flashlight(s). If the humidity is high, the floor will be very slippery. I recommend continuing the hike which continues to be rocky but it changes to beach like flora and volcanic rocks. Eventually you will reach the astonishing cliff. The view is breathtaking. The experience is worth the time. Make sure you bring water (lots of water).Written 11 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kwa829Redmond, WA679 contributionsI am from the mainland U.S. (Seattle, WA area) and came to the western Pacific to spend a few days seeing the remote American outposts of Guam and Saipan. I do enjoy hiking in the Pacific Northwest, so I thought it would be fun to do a hike in a very different kind of setting . . . instead of hike in a cool, misty northwest pine forest, how about a hike in a tropical jungle setting in wet blanket humidity?
It was by pure coincidence that the day of my hike happened to be Good Friday . . April 7, 2023. Apparently, on Good Friday each year, local Catholics erect the "stations of the cross" along the trail to a secondary (slightly lower elevation) peak called Jumullong Manglo, which shares the same trail, and hundreds of the faithful make the hike. So I had plenty of company on this day. There are some wooden crucifixes erected at Jumullong Manglo. Almost all of the hikers were providing each other with hearty "Happy Easter" greetings.
As mentioned, the trails to Mt. LamLam and Jumullong Manglo (which I'll abreviate "JM" for the remainder of this writeup) share the same trailhead. About one mile into the trail, there is a "Y" intersection; going right will take you to JM (only 1/4 mile past the fork in the trail), and going left will take you to Mt. LamLam (about 3/4 mile past the fork). I hiked to JM, then backtracked and hiked to Mt. LamLam.
The trail does not seem to have been built or maintained by any park or recreation department; it is a purely "casual trail". Parts of it are severely eroded, and during rain, there will be water running down the middle of it. If you are doing the hike during or in the aftermath of rain, expect it to be extremely muddy . . . to the point that it can put you at significant risk of slipping and falling, so watch your step. I highly recommend bringing sturdy and waterproof hiking boots. I'd also suggest that the sturdiest footing can be found by walking through the water channel in the middle of the trail, as there will be "clean" rock beneath it. You just have to be willing to get your boots or shoes soaking wet. The steep, muddy sections of the trail are mainly in the lower half of it; after that, the trail levels off a bit and the surface is more grassy than muddy.
The trail is easy to follow all the way to the aforementioned "Y" intersection, and after that, the short ~1/4 mile spur to JM is also easy to follow. But, the trail from the Y-intersection to Mt. LamLam is at times quite difficult to follow. Some good Samaritans have tied little pink and orange ribbons to trees and bushes along the way, but many of these ribbons are faded and tattered. Be alert for them. I'd suggest bringing a smartphone with GPS capability, you may want to reference your location vs. the Mt. LamLam summit to get your "sense of place" and ensure you are not going way off track. This will be especially important if, as was the case on the day that I did the hike, the summit is shrouded in fog and mist
Between the "Y" and the Mt. LamLam summit, expect to push your way through 10-foot tall sawgrass, and wade through water that may approach knee-deep.
The final push to the summit will be a short scramble up an easily climbable rock formation. At the top is a flagpole with a U.S. and Guam flag.
Suggestions:
(1) Take your pick: go on a cloudy, rainy day on which heat won't be as much of a factor, but on which the views may be limited and the trail will be very muddy OR go on a clear, sunny day where you may melt in the tropical sun and heat, but enjoy fabulous views and probably firmer footing on the trail.
(2) Wear long pants so you don't cut yourself when having to push your way through tall vegetation. Some people will tell you to wear long sleeves for similar reasons; I wore short sleeves and it was fine.
(3) On a wet, muddy day, bring a change of clothes so you don't have to get back into your (rental) car dripping with water and mud.
(4) I would recommend footwear that you are willing to sacrifice; it may very well be absolutely caked in mud when you are done. I was able to hose down my boots at my hotel, and then they eventually dried out after about 4 days.
FYI I hiked alone, and I am a male in my early 50s in pretty decent shape but by no means an Olympic athlete. My entire hike, car-to-Jumullong Manglo-to-Mt. LamLam-to-car, with a little time along the way to take photos and rest for a few minutes at the summit, was just a tad over two hours. My Fitbit said I burned 1141 calories.Written 21 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
