This was our first visit to this part of Door County, and it was an amazing experience.
Even though it was a cool, yet comfortable day; being mid-week off-season, the amount of visitors was minimal.
The views and sounds of the waves hitting the rocky coast was magnificent. (We asked a local person, who had brought friends to view the area, if the crashing noise from the waves was always so strong. She said this was the loudest she had ever heard it. Apparently the water and wind were in the right combination to hit the caves/stone just right; it was quite impressive.)
Meandering along the uncrowded trail, above the shoreline, allowed for a satisfying immersion into the views and sounds around us. (It was a pleasant happenstance to watch an artist painting on his easel, by the water's edge.)
This area is a definite "must return", on our next Door County visit.

This is a wonderful museum on the Sturgeon Bay waterfront that educates the visitors about boats, ships, and lighthouses, and the people who’ve built and operated them through the years. We toured the new tower first (with great views from the top), and then the older section with the wonderful boat exhibits, beautiful mural, videos, and interactive displays about the many shipwrecks and how to operate a boat safely and competently. Right before they closed we bought a T-shirt in the nice gift shop, where the friendly employee told us we could come back the next morning for the tugboat tour. We did, and the competent tour guide (who had been a boat operator himself) showed us the 149-foot John Purves Tugboat that had been restored after being built in 1919 and traveling long distances in dangerous waters. Usually seeing only small tugboats in the Savannah River, we were amazed that this very large one was designed for a 13-man crew for long trips and had private bedrooms and bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a large engine room. (We read recently on the website that this tugboat is being repaired and will be open for guests again May 1.) This is a high quality museum, and we enjoyed our time there!

Love this winery! Plus now they have a distillery too!!! Something for everyone!! Haven’t been here since they added the distillery and renovated and added onto the whole building. It’s great. Always have to visit when in Door County. The wines are amazing!

This was a pleasant and small garden. Just right for a break from leaves and lighthouses. We would’ve stayed a bit longer but the rain got heavy enough it was time to go! It was a great, short visit.

Yet another wonderful place to enjoy the natural splendor of Door County.
Being off-season, mid-week, the traffic flow was minimal; even though it was a cool, yet comfortable day. This made for a very laid-back and relaxing exploration of the area.
The beach was almost totally vacant, allowing for a pleasant immersion into the sight and sounds of the waves; as well as an uncrowded meandering along the trails.
This is a great place to spend a few hours, or several days.

A well organized place kept very clean for a Farm. Animals look very healthy & well taken care off. A awesome education place for small children to show them the beauties of nature. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hours we spent there & was an unique experience.

Always enjoy going to Simon Creek winery. There are many good wines to choose from. The service is great as they explain the wines. Had a great conversation with the hostess. Brought home quite a few bottles that we enjoyed.

Outstanding museum for those who enjoy nature and historical artifacts. The diorama at the entrance was truly stunning! The display of the animals and birds was masterfully presented. The rest of the museum had old artifacts and were extremely well displayed. If you like museums then don't miss this one.
There is no charge but a five dollar donation is asked. Best five bucks I ever spent!!!!

In all our visits to Door County and Sturgeon Bay, we never knew this place existed. We’re glad we found it. Very unique glasswork at reasonable (ish) prices. The staff person that day - who moved from Cleveland to Sturgeon Bay - was enjoyable, helpful and genuinely seemed to enjoy her work.

Such a surprise! We stopped here by chance before our door county trip - and I am so glad we did! The place has a wealth of information and the lady at the front desk was VERY helpful and guided us really well. I expected some maps and information you can find on google but never expected them to have a list of things one can do on a rainy day or a list of vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants by each major township! If you are visiting Door County, start at this welcome center!

If you are looking for unique, beautiful, and functional pottery, you must visit this studio/shop! The artist and proprietor, Linda is super helpful, friendly, and generous with her time and wisdom: our visit was an excellent learning experience. The gallery is located on the Lake Michigan shore east of Sturgeon Bay, surrounded by a spectacular garden. It is a piece of paradise in Wisconsin. We were lucky enough to meet Linda's husband, who is a wonderful gentleman and Vietnam Vet. I recommend a visit ASAP. By the way, Linda's prices are great! Go now!
