Our most recent visit was on a warm summer day, and we were delighted to see some of the outside activities; a nature walk that shows the proportional distances between planets, and an artificial steam that teache...

... of water - so clean and pure - you feel you see every rock and crevasse in the riverbed- It is a profound reminder of the sheer beauty of nature and the respect and care Vermonters have for their environment.-
Being the holiday weekend, we had to park down the street and walk back but it was well worth the walk.

This is a beautiful destination to spend the day with incredible views of the mountains, and the National Park is in Windsor, VT. which is a charming New England town.
This well loved and lived in Victorian mansion was central to those families who lived there and shared their commitment to the natural environment and ultimately the National Park system.
Mount Tom Woodstock 15.6 km away
#2 of 5 Nature & Parks in Woodstock
There are a variety of trails on Mount Tom which covers a large area up behind the National Park Visitor centre opposite Billings Farm & Museum - hence very accessible.
We did two hikes here, one to the Pogue and the other to the summit of Mt Tom via Faulkner Park trails.

But the closest I’d gotten to seeing raptors close up had been at the excellent Vermont Institute of Natural Science Nature Center (VINS) in neighboring Quechee, VT.
When they drop to the ground they stalk their prey (think Velociraptor in Jurassic Park) with lunging strides and, yes, you can see them thinking.
Boston Lot Reservoir Lebanon, NH 10.8 km away

You can hike the regular trail and go to Boston lot and you can find the longer and more difficult trails ( that are marked very well) and spend some more time in the nature preserve.
