The Round Rock Express is the Triple A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and boast an impressive stadium and facility. A recent visit to Austin and Round Rock included a night time game (great because the Texas summer temperatures dropped from 112 degrees to 102 degrees at gametime). Despite the still sweltering temperatures, there was a decent breeze and sitting over the 3rd base dugout kept us out of the setting sun. Unless you are a masochist, avoid the first base side of the stadium because the still setting sun will roast and blind you.

The food and drink selections are ample and both were well stocked for a game that was almost empty (a factor of the heat again). $2 Taco Tuesday night was great and the tacos more than respectable. Top that off with a $3 beer special and you couldn't go wrong. We found the concession staff to be amazingly friendly, outgoing, and accommodating. In fact, no where in Texas did we find a local who was unwelcoming.

Like most minor league operations, there is a balance between baseball and family fun activities. There seemed to be a good number of activities for the kids past the centerfield concourse. The between inning activities are entertaining and provided a mild respite from marginal baseball play. AAA baseball is fun to watch and the disparity between that level and the Big Leagues is dramatic. Nevertheless, the opportunity to see up and coming talent (and occasionally someone passing down through the ranks) offers an appreciation for how good a player has to be to make it and survive on a major league team.

In summary, the Round Rock Express Dell Diamond Stadium is a great venue with great people and will offer a very nice family outing. Check their website for special ticket offers and food discounts and save even more.

This is a fantastic and unique park! Highly recommend! Plan for 1-2 hours, and bring scooters/bikes. I wouldn’t stay too long after sundown but the evening is great in summer. Some areas are well lit and others not lit at all, once it’s dark.

Went shortly after noon on Friday, so wasn't too crowded...park seems pretty large but did have more lines for the tube rides later in the afternoon. They need a pad at the bottom of the frog slide as the 4 and 6 year old hurt there knees. They liked the slides at the train as it has pads there.
There is a section left of the entrance gate that is for teens/adults with a bigger tubes and a cliff for climbing and diving into deeper pool.
We brought in water and sandwiches for lunch but did pay $4 for some ice cream and snow cones afterwards.

You have to go to the new location to see the bats. Park at the Allen Boots lot and walk north on the frontage road past the last store. You will not be disappointed.

Perhaps my favorite part of this park was that for each branch of the US Armed Forces, the playground matched! So there was an Air Force cutout where you could put your face for a photo, and a plane your kid could play on, etc. Lovely place,

Under construction, but still nice. It's going to be a lot better when the new sidewalks are completed.

If you’re into antiques or collectibles, you might find it here. It was a little bit of everything and I didn’t see any large collections of anything Inparticular. Just some stuff to look at.
