- Tiffany HSan Marcos, TX66 contributionsMy husband and I took a short day trip to Lockhart and were happy the museum was open, because much of the shops weren’t. There’s a lot of history in this building and a very helpful staff.Written 16 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jpamr5Richmond, TX937 contributionsOn Tuesday, June 15, 2021, as we were walking the Lockhart town square we were surprised we could walk in the building to view the interior. The welcoming guard directed us to the various floors. The court and council meeting room was vintage with skilled wood work. Many rooms are offices. Green space around the court house is well maintained. Just seeing the outside design features is impressive.Written 16 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Excellent museum! Clocks and watches from many countries and time periods, with explanatory placards next to many of them. Most are decorative, not just functional. Fascinating from both a cultural and mechanical perspective.Written 14 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MJSpockAustin, TX248 contributionsHere's what you get - a mix of professional and amateur actors all playing really great characters. They put on shows that have excellent scripts. It's a family-friendly theater, so no dirty stuff. The building itself is very cool, literally an old theater from like 100 years ago or maybe older. The place is just great and the actors hang out afterwards so you can talk with themWritten 11 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is not a fancy store but has some interesting antiques. I did not find anything I wanted to buy on this trip. The prices are decent. The parking lot is small but there is plenty of on-street parking. It is certainly worth a 10-20 minute stop.Written 12 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- M JAustin, TX7,978 contributionsMy husband and I found this beautiful church when we were antiquing in Lockhart. The church is 2 blocks from the square. We noticed there was an historical marker on the outside. The church is beautiful on the outside and has a pretty courthouse on the south side. I wanted to see the inside but the doors were locked. The church was built in 1899.Written 12 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BCJerseySomerville, NJ40 contributionsMy wife and I stopped here before dinner along with my stepdaughter, son in law, and 6 year old grandson. (Kids are allowed before 8P.M.) I had been wanting to stop in on our prior visits from New Jersey, but this was our first visit. I was curious to see if they had Pearl beer, which is brewed in Fort Worth, because I used to drink it as a young man in my 20s, when it was available back East. Alas, although they stock it regularly, the bartender Reuben said they were having trouble getting it lately. I settled for a Lone Star, and my grandson had a Roy Rogers, which is coca cola and grenadine syrup, at Reuben's suggestion. He also came up with a Tequila cocktail which my stepdaughter loved.
My son in law, our designated driver, wanted some iced tea. Although Reuben said they didn't have any, he offered to go across the street and get us some, which was very kind of him. In the meantime, the locals kept my grandson entertained with some friendly chatter.
After dinner, a few of us stopped back in to check out the musician who was playing, and had one last drink. We all said that we wanted to stop in again on our next visit.
Reuben is a great people person, and made sure we enjoyed our time at the Pearl. Old time atmosphere, friendly service, and awesome bartenders make the Pearl a great place to stop if you're ever in the Lockhart area. Highly recommended.Written 29 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Electricity was out in the larger sites so there were very few camping. Always clean. We stay here to take our dog to the vet in Buda. Nice getaway but will stay else where in Dec.Written 30 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AirchefEau Claire, WI107 contributionsTook some friends to see Texas Hatter’s. I had not been there since 1978 when it was on Lamar Blvd. in Austin. It was like they had picked up the Austin store and just moved it intact to Lockhart. Manny’s daughter, Joella, and her husband, David, provided great service, great hospitality, and great advice on the perfect hat for my husband and my friend. This is a “must do” if you come to Texas. Instead of a cheap souvenir hat from a discount Western wear store, make an investment and own a piece of Texas history.Written 5 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - M JAustin, TX7,978 contributionsMy husband and I go to Fields Stable Antiques every time we pass through Lockhart. It is a fairly large store and has decent prices.
