I was surprised at the archaic style of the pool. It has metal steps and rails, which both add to the "hottness" of the place. It is not covered at all by shade, and it has an unusual smell about it. You can not submerge yourself, and you should be mindful of your blood pressure and general health.
With all that in mind, try very hard to get to this pool. The water is hot, hot, hot and immediately therapeutic. I wish I could have stood the heat for longer as it felt sooo good and so uncomfortable at the same time. I wish we had gone in the cooler months, I can imagine it would have been even better.
    I highly recommend a visit.

We toured an underground mine It was a great insight into the trials an tribulations of the mining community of lightening Ridge and how they mine and extract opals. Our guide was exceptional and very informative with great wit and include a picture of our guide!

    What a wonderful Art Gallery!
Such great Outback art, including the quirky emus, which also appear on murals in other places.

We enjoyed it very much and also to see John on the screen and hear him talk about his life.

You are not allowed to take pictures inside, which is fair enough and should be respected.

This is a great Farmstay. Large campsites, so definitely not on top of each other and very peaceful. Great place for kids with all the animals. Jacinda who is a very friendly person gave an interesting and informative tour of how all areas of the farm work. Her off siders Kelly and Brad were also friendly, helpful and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay. Thanks to all of you at Carinya. Cheers Debbie and Glen

It is very interesting the way it is done and the humour behind a lot of it. Great imagination. Would like to check inside.

What a fabulous morning, worth every penny!
Robert is very interesting. Firstly, sharing details of his family's life through the generations and also the history of the area. His museum is amazing.
Therese was very friendly and made us the most beautiful scones and piping hot tea for our morning tea.

WOW. Very impressive collection. There is some huge cactus. Well worth the entry fee and senior discount. The lay out of the garden made it really easy to walk around the neat pathways. John, the owner - gardener is friendly and you can tell he puts alot of effort in to maintain the place. Great area for parking. You can bring your dog.

Went twice, very friendly staff. Spend $1 on the car door tours map on arrival ( I did not know about this) and ask for the Orange door tour map which is well worth the drive out of town. Just don't do what I did and mistake it as the yellow door tour on local map they give you as it is not on this map and we thought the locals were playing a joke on us tourist as nothing was lining up :-).

This is a wee bit embarrassing but when I was in town, I asked where I could find this emu...they told me that I drove past it on the way in. I mentioned that surely I would have seen it! They laughed and said well it's huge. It turns out that I was so focused on not running over the lizards that insist on sunning themselves on the road at this time of year that I missed a rather large and obvious emu sculpture.

And that's a bit wrong... it's a beautiful emu made from recycled material. You will even find that they used a VW beetle for this. (It's almost like Stanley ate it)

Stanley is a wee bit of fun and you really should visit him... so don't look for lizards, look for Stanley!

There are many opal shops in Lightning Ridge and this is the one we decided to visit. There is a large variety here of opals and settings. I am not a great fan of opals but it was nice to have a look around this outlet. We spoke to Herman who was very happy to talk about the different opals, cuts and colours.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this shop. I visited during the opal festival and although it’s hard to judge as a lay person think I got a really good deal.
I love the freeform gems. I also love frogs. So this was an easy decision for me

Loved the variety of stones and the lack of hard sell coupled with the knowledge shown.

All in all a cracking end to my holiday.

We were collected from our Caravan Park by Pauline in her mini bus and headed off on a very informative tour around The Ridge. Pauline grew up in the area and has been a keen miner herself so she knows the town and the opal mining game well. We enjoyed a lovely morning tea half way through our tour. It was well worth hopping on board and we found the tour was excellent value. We visited the Walk In Mine as an added extra.
