- StanleyandMarieOntario, Canada1,171 contributionsThe Lighthouse was not open when we were there in May, but we enjoyed the view from the water while taking a tour with Seas The Day. Wonderful perspective to see it from below! You can access it by land and it would be well worth it in when they are open.Written 24 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shaune CMoncton, Canada109 contributionsA unique stop with great views. You actually drive though a horse pasture to get to the Dungeon. One horse came right up to our window to peak in.Written 10 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bucko007Sudbury, Canada608 contributionsGood museum explaining the fishing and sealing industry. Many artifacts. The residence is no longer accessible but it is still good.Written 28 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OntheroadagainOttawa, Canada7 contributionsThe Garrick Theatre is a totally restored historic theatre in one of Newfoundland’s most popular go-to destinations, Bonavista. It shows movies (both current hits and golden oldies), hosts musical acts big and small (in the large theatre space and the more intimate bar area), and serves home-made ice cream! People of all ages attend films and events, which have a warm community atmosphere. Our visits there — especially for Newfoundland music — were real highlights for us this trip. We look forward to going there again ourselves — and we’ll be recommending the Garrick to anyone who is lucky enough to visit Bonavista.Written 9 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PeterBernieMiddlesbrough, United Kingdom233 contributionsA very interesting museum with all the history of the journey made by the explorer and his crew. There is lots of information the guides were very well informed as well. To be onboard the replica vessel took things to another level. A fantastic experience kids would love it here too.Written 16 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - idgara56Port Dover, Canada281 contributionsMy wife and I walked the trail to the lighthouse and back. Very scenic and well looked after trail. As a bonus there was a grouse family running around near the lighthouse.Written 21 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CherylM2010Calgary, Canada73 contributionsWe visited on Canada Day and so had a bonus of local entertainment in the Old Store house.
In the plantation my favourite part was the large room where all the newspaper clippings and cartoons were stored.Written 15 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - rbthodgeWhitby, Canada1,609 contributionsSmall museum. Helpful curator. Nice display of items from bygone years, except I remember having many of them in my house when I was growing up. Am I that old?Written 16 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kevin LTiny, Canada229 contributionsWe did this drive on the way to and from our stay in Bonavista. I would do this drive instead of the Irish loop as the scenery is much better. Be sure to stop in Trinity, Elliston, Cape Bonavista and Spillars CoveWritten 11 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - backpacker111caToronto, Canada93 contributionsStumbled upon this walk around a pond while exploring Bonavista. Returned later around sunset for a walk after dinner. It was a great walk alone the boardwalk while the sun set. The light on the pond and the surrounding buildings and homes was sublime. Probably great at sunrise as well.Written 25 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Liz MBonavista, Canada43 contributionsI looked for and found the building but its empty. No beer no restaurant, no one home. ??? - sandra cBradford West Gwillimbury, Canada25 contributionsBeautiful little shop where you can see them making the products. You can see, smell and try all the products before you purchase. I bought bath bombs and bath salts, and used a bath bomb when I returned home. It was the best homemade bath bomb I have ever purchased - great smell, light use of oil and not over the top of fizzy. Looking forward to trying the bath salts!Written 25 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- KW2 contributionsI highly recommend this Tour service.
We went on a morning tour on a Zodiac. We donned the necessary flotation suits, and we were off!
The whale migratory patterns in the area suggested that most pods had moved on, but we were still fortunate enough to witness a Minke whale.
We were taken into some tight spaces amidst "stack" formations, and even nosed around some sea caves due to the size and maneuverability of the craft.
We observed Puffins on the water, diving and making short flights to new fishing/feeding spots.
Our guide was good natured and knowledgeable. We had a lovely time.Written 2 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
