I discovered the winerie very close to our aunt's house on Long Island

Access is very easy in a very quiet place

I went on a Saturday afternoon.

You buy the wine in a small place and you can sit among the vineyards to enjoy it. You can take your drinks and your picnic

The owners are great and they serve you with great attention

This building is fairly new with many nooks and crannies to get lost in to read undisturbed. Staff is friendly and helpful. Many good programs on travel, films, music presentations, wonderful children's activities. Easy to find: same block as Post Office and near Sayville train station. Also has a good DVD collection and a Travel Club. Almost all programs are free and open to all; some require registration. Support is available for computer and other technical problems.

My mother and I who have an interest in local history and antiques had a private tour of the estate by the lovely Jerry. He entertained us with funny side notes and details and proved very knowledgeable of the estate and it’s residents. We really enjoyed the tour and the beauty of the old summer home of these prominent people in our rich Long Island history. A must-do for anyone who enjoys local history and wine! The vineyard behind the museum is lovely. You can even visit the grave of the Roosevelt’s family horse!

Took the kids here over the weekend and read that the parking lot is just East of the target store (a little behind actually). But, I think this is one of a couple of parking lots overall. From the top parking lot, you can get "trapped" in to a finger which is at the North and East which is smaller in size. But, this has a small stream on it. If you park in that lot, and go directly behind the fire station, that brings you in to the larger side of the park which goes for a couple of miles and by a handful of lakes and a girl scout camp on the other side (no trespassing signs limit access to it). We walked by a few of the lakes, but there are many more according to the map. We saw a few swans on the lakes, woodpeckers, and a snake who ventured out really early in the year when the leaves had not even started to sprout on trees. At the top of the park you can hear the Sunrise parkway, at the bottom you can likely hear the other parkway too, but in the middle it was pretty quiet and relaxing (other than a couple of dirt bikes which I don't think are allowed.

This park has no amenities including bathrooms that we saw. So bring some water, snacks and enjoy some fresh air. Even on this early spring day there were a lot of locals walking dogs, and many people in general exploring. We were very surprised at how large it was. It was a good surprise compared to most of the Long Island tiny over-crowded parks.

Husband & I stopped here on a Sat around 11am to kill a little time. $12 per adult to play the course. Person at the cashier office was friendly and pleasant. When we started there was only 1 other couple on the course. By the time we left, about an hour later, there were 3 other groups after us. Course does have a little bit a skill to it, but some of it is pure luck. We lost a couple balls in one of the water holes, but were able to fish them out with our putters. Some of the holes didn't have edges on strategic spots so our balls ended up going over onto the walkways, so it was a good thing we weren't keeping an actual score card- just wanted to have some fun. This you can easily do here.

Much better this time around. Seems to be a policy change concerning payments. I like to pay before I bowl this way when I’m ready to leave I don’t have to wait on line again to settle the bill. Plus I don’t want my credit card on file. Which I was told on more than one occasion It was policy. If you want your patrons to return you let them decide how they want to pay. Happy to say all is well again.
