What travelers are saying
- AtnierRMonroe, CT109 contributionsThe mansion’s grounds provide a relaxing walk through greenhouses, pristine green fields and themed gardens with an interesting meandering of the mansion proper and its Victorian rooms.
If your party has anyone interested in history and nature, they will enjoy a quiet couple of hours roaming throughout the large property, admiring the old trees, pretty flowers and potential sightings of small wild animals (frogs and groundhogs and the like).
If you have a toddler in a stroller, do note you’ll have areas where you will need to lift the stroller to get through or walks that are too narrow or rocky, so you would have time to go around the main path, diverging from the rest of the party for a bit.Written July 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, it is an outdoor seating place, so expect mud and beware of bad weather. It is also in the middle of nowhere. I had a hard time finding a gas station on the way back. If you go here, make sure you're gased up, pay attention to where you parked (they have a few lots and we got lost). If you are from far away, consider staying nearby if you can find a place. Also, it was a zoo getting out of the parking lot. Just beware of these things.Written July 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cynthia FFair Lawn, NJ3,367 contributionsThere's parking all the way at the Lake end fo the pier, as well as along the pier. Different number of minutes parking permitted at the different locations.
We found benches along the lake, at the end of the pier, but saw very few benches along the sides of the pier.
Very pretty view of the Lake.
The only annoying thing is the constant parade of cars passing by (tourists?), as well as a few cars idling at the end of the pier. I didn't last long on the bench, despite the great view, because I got tired of the carbon monoxide exhaust fumes from all the cars.Written August 5, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Kayak and sup rentals were available. The grounds were very nice and lots of parking available. Will come back!Written July 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PVE_11Oswego, IL273 contributionsNice craft brewery by the water. Vanilla porter was delicious, but we didn’t like the Octoberfest. Food was good & they had a decent menu. Great outdoor seating!!Cashier was NOT friendly at all & never checked on usWritten October 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jack L9 contributionsThe museum starts with a three story mansion-which is only first & second levels and top level not being used. The first level was living rooms, library, fireplaces-there are 12 fireplaces- lower to upper, dining room, victorian parlor, , furniture & paintings. The second level was mostly b4edrooms.
After the mansion are three buildings that contain farm equipment, sleighs& carriage. The farm equipment is from 1840 and late 1880/95, horse drawn ice cutter, shovel/plow, dump rake, sickle-bar mower & dumprack.
The sleighs are from about same farm equipment time period which are wagonattes, phaetonns, private park drag, game carts, seal surreys, road carts, buckboards, runabout, cutters, traps, road wagons & rockaways.
The last building are the carriages. The first carriage is the traveling vehicle store. Follow by stick seat surrey, commercial wagon, a victoria hose cart & pumper, business wagon, meat wagon, a doctor's buggy, a single & double sleigh & a hearse.
I checked for photos before my visit for vehicle I viewed. I looked for vehicle which were early 1910's. All I found were the carriages, sleigh & farm equipment. I enjoyed the mansion, however the sleighs, carriage & farm equipment were more enjoyable.

I like the longer runs with decent vertical drop for a ski resort in the fingerlike area. Unfortunately the Comet trail is reserved for races and tends to not be open to the public during the day. This makes the lift price not so good value. There was a bottle filling station but no drinking fountain. Decent food options. I bought a hamburger it came with fries, $12.36 - for what it's worth. The resort does not take Amex.Written March 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stephen CWellsville, NY73 contributionsWe went to the market on a cool rainy Saturday morning, but we were glad we did. It was under a long pavilion-style roof a half block east of Main Street with over 20 different vendors. The produce and products were plentiful and reasonably priced. What a great find!Written November 2, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DownEast47Finger Lakes, NY205 contributionsIn mid-Jan 2024 we enjoyed wine tasting at the Heron Hill Tasting Room on Canandaigua Lake. It was during their January free wine tasting promotion event. Cindy was an excellent hostess and did a great job explaining our wine choices. I've been to this tasting room on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed it. Of course I couldn't leave without purchasing wine!! Check out their Eclipse ~ which they offer in both red and white; this trip I purchased the white Eclipse. And it's not just for the upcoming eclipse event in Apr 2024 ... their Eclipse is available year-round!
Be sure to visit them when you're in the Canandaigua / Finger Lakes area!Written March 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. No picnic for you! Thirsty? Have a bottle of water for THREE dollars. We don’t mind paying the (rather high)admission price, but to be charged such exorbitant rates for lunch and water is needless. That said, the rides are awesome and the kids absolutely love it. Lots of lounge chairs available, as well as lockers. And there’s a great splash area for the little ones. Have a big breakfast before you go!Written June 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- hayleycsmithArlington, VA9 contributionsThe Finger Lake region is known for its white/ice wines, but if you're a red wine drinker looking for the best stops, be sure to explore the Canandaigua Wine Trail. Notable stops for us were Heron Hill, Inspire Moore, and Red Cat.Written November 20, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim FCape May Court House, NJ6 contributionsExcellent selection of beers. Bartender was amiable, informative, and made my wife and I feel like home. The Russian Imperial Stout in Basil Hayden barrel was outstanding!Written November 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
