After reading a review of the hiking trail on AllTrails, I figured, hey why not give it a go? Sure people complained that the trail was not well maintained, muddy, and overgrown. But! I had done trails like that before! No worries right?

Well when we first pulled up and I saw the paved trail I thought “huh okay! Not so bad!” Once you get past that very small paved portion though? Yeah no. There’s a ton of mud, and it is DEEP and I mean, up to your ankles deep. It honestly reminded me of the swamps in Florida. Speaking of which, there were SO many mosquitoes and spider webs. You’re basically walking along the muddy banks of the river the entire time and dodging trees and branches that will whack you in the face as you almost fall off the edge. And I mean, you really have to watch your foot placement because you could VERY easily fall in.

Not to mention, this isn’t a true loop. Once you get to the end of the river side section the trail pretty much ends and you’ve got to turn back to the midway point. Once you get back there, it’s a near vertical climb to the rest of the trail. Again, there’s still tons of mosquitos and mud. There’s a small overlook but I’ll be honest? There’s WAY better overlooks of the river on much better maintained trails all around the STL area. I honestly would not do this trail again as it wasn’t really worth the amount of mud that was caked on my boots after and the bugs/scrapes I got all over my legs and face from the brush. Don’t attempt without a machete!

I didn’t care for that movie theater very much. The layout was just plain weird. When you first walk in it feels like a maze. You do choose your seats, but they are not reclining seats. I guess I’m used to nicer theaters.
