Old Town Rothenburg
#1 of 253 Sights & Landmarks in Middle Franconia
Like other medieval cities, it has it all ... history, loving restored buildings and churches, cobblestones, beautiful scenery, city walls and fantastic views.
Allow for a leisurely one day's visit strolling through the cobblestone streets and viewing the quaint buildings and other landmark attractions some of which are really medieval.

Town Walls Rothenburg
#2 of 253 Sights & Landmarks in Middle Franconia
We had an amazing time walking the wall and finding hidden, "secret" spots which still held medieval artifacts, The view from just about anywhere is breathtaking.
Yes, this an absolute "must do" when visiting Rothenburg o.d.T.! A walk on this elevated path offers you plenty of great views and photo ops of thecity as well as insights into what it must have been to be a guard...

It takes about half an hour and we found it reasonably quiet with great views over the stylish rooftops and surrounding scenery.
A magical city with friendly people and beautiful sights.

Remember, the site is active and a place of mourning for those recently bereaved of their loved ones.
#7 of 253 Sights & Landmarks in Middle Franconia
The Rathaus is in the main square of the old town and it offers a climb to the top of the tower which gives you great 360 views of the entire city.
If you want a great panoramic view of Rothernburg and its surrounds, a climb to the top of the Rathaus Tower is the best place to go.

Still, any time spent is a bonus, and the views and history that go along with any walking tour, is always an incredible experience, again, loved every second.
Excellent historical site and a must see if you're in Nurnberg.

It is a vast, rambling site and I would definitely recommend checking the tour book - select themes of interest - and be disciplined.
Exhibits are well lit, and very well done with plenty of space to view.

From the gate tower, climb up to the sentry walk, offering magnificent views through the arrow slits, looking down on angular courtyards and narrow roofs.
The best way to view this unique building is from up on the city walls which can be relatively quiet.

Myself and a friend visited Nuremburg on a whim because we found cheap flights and were delighted to find such a beautiful landmark within the city.
At night, the spotlights towards the church, can obscure your view, but, fun to see, anyway.

Ehekarussell Nuremberg
#18 of 253 Sights & Landmarks in Middle Franconia
This controversial and grotesque sculpture depicts a rather cynical view about the cycle of marriage.
Combination of modern shopping and historical sites in one place, Google City Point Nuremberg and the GPS should take you directly there, also there is a lot of parking lots provided so there shouldn't be an issue.
St. George Church Dinkelsbuhl
#19 of 253 Sights & Landmarks in Middle Franconia
After climbing a narrow spiral staircase for several stories, you will have an opportunity to climb another set of stairs through the bells in the bell tower and then there is a 360 view from the balcony at the top.
Worth it if only for the views from the bell tower

The Burgtor is a magnificent site, especially when you walk thru it to the other side and view it from the garden where the original medieval castle stood until destroyed by an earthquake centuries ago.
Great to visit and view, to get away from it all with buskers' music, picnic and a takeaway black beer from the nearby convenience store (refund on bottle).
