This is a short hike that provides a panoramic view from the top out over the bay.
The hut was built by Hans Heistad. He was an immigrant from Norway who was a landscape architect. He built the house (1913-1915) as a summer cottage for the Gribbel family as a picnic spot. The hut is designed after what a traditional summer hut might look like in Norway and had a sod roof on the top. When the stone structure was restored over 100 years later, some of the original sod was still there. The area is now managed by the Coastal Mountains Land Trust and it also has a wild blueberry operation. 12 acres was listed on the National Register in 2003. Hans also designed portions of Camden State Park just up the road.

Beautiful Rockport Bay statue. Recommend checking out the iconic statue. The famous statue is the main character of a book.

A visit to this beautifully situated marine park is deemed mandatory for us when visiting Maine's the mid-coast. The beautiful harbor is the #1 reason to visit, but there are others reasons as well such as the history behind the kilns, the story of Andre the seal and more. Recently added are a pair of adirondack chairs carved to look like puffins.

I LOVE belted Galloways. There were a half-dozen or more little calves when I drove by, and they weren’t shy. They came right up to the fence to see who all those humans taking pictures were, and a few of the mothers were apprehensive enough to nudge them back to the center of the field.

When we got to the gallery, it was just at opening time but no one was there so we called the number listed on the door and Peter Ralston was there within three minutes. He was very informative, excited to share his works and his stories about growing up next to Andrew Wyeth and the impact that had on his life. He has lots of his work on display and was very friendly.

What an outstanding place to buy your groceries!! I’ve never seen anything like it. The care that goes into running this store it’s truly a labor of love. If you know the history behind this store you would understand. The various fruit vegetables and foods to select from are always very fresh. There are plenty of prepared foods as well. There are many reasons to visit. I looked up JNYC Writer who says they don’t understand the store. Stay in NY then we love our local organic produce that is brought to us by the people of Maine. Thank you very much.

Built in 1891, this opera house is known as one of New England's architectural and acoustical gems and is in a beautiful setting overlooking Rockport Harbor and next to Mary Lea Park. Unfortunately, there was nothing going on when we were there, but we were able to peek inside and see the interior.

The gallery is small but on occasion you can find amazing shows of top photographers. Many of the artists are affiliated with the Maine Media College. If you are in Rockport it is worth dropping by.
