- PRKPinCH41Montreux, Switzerland217 contributionsWe accessed via the restaurant kainan sa tabing ilog which runs banka to the falls.
We paid 3450pp for two for our banka which took a max of 3 people. Remember to bring extra cash to tip bankeros (they recommended 2000pp each we gave them 1000pp). As well as the bankeros at the end who take you into the falls, I would have done 100pp probably for each of them.
What the bankeros told us. They rent the banka and they are not full time, nor employees of the restaurant. They get a spot every three weeks to work one ride and they make only the tip. They essentially pull the wooden boat or banka up the river against the current through the shallows and rocks. It is dangerous work especially since they do not do it all the time and don’t have intimate knowledge of the river and have to use their feet and legs to push against the rocks to get the banka forward. And you can’t really help them so a big tip is absolutely worth it. One false move and they could be seriously injured.
The bankeros at the bamboo raft pull you through the fall. You can leave your stuff with the first bankeros. But don’t take any through the falls which you are not ready to get soaked. The falls are quite powerful. Luckily I left my glasses with the first boat. I would have lost them otherwise.
Go early. We left at 9 and by the time we came back there were 5 banka on their way up. Ta not a huge place so getting there early we had the river and the falls to ourselves. Beautiful most coming off the gorge and it was not so hot. Most of the gorge would be in the shade but on the open river I’m sure it gets HOT. Bring a shade hat and water. There was no infrastructure at the falls.Written February 2, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I don't like rides so l sat at a corner watching her . there is a water splash kinda ride she liked the most and wanted to go again. In her words she said some rides are even better than Disney landWritten August 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SUSAN A31 contributionsWater was warm, a number of pools to choose from, shower/changing rooms excellent, good standard and clean. Friendly staff and plenty of them within the vicinity should you need help. You see staff always cleaning the area. Price went up 1st Feb and this wasn't advertised on their website. We visited 2nd Feb and had to pay the new price of 3k per person. Very pricey indeed! The road leading to the place has lots of pot holes, they should really fix this for the price they're charging.Written February 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KCheng1 contributionThe place is great when it comes to the pools; though man-made, they give lots of “being one with nature” vibe.
Be warned though that if you are expecting spacious accommodations, you wouldn’t find it here. A room with 2 bunk beds, which in my opinion could only accommodate 1 person per bed, was listed as accommodations for 8 persons.
There’s also the shower heater that doesn’t work. Despite calling the management’s attention regarding the non working heater, nothing was done.
If you do not mind these things considering the affordability and would only care about the nature vibe, then this place will do you well.Written April 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The adventure began with visitors Registration with our official Guide.
There are actually another 2 waterfalls you can trek through on the way to the main Halugan Falls but due to the trails being extremely muddy and slippery due to heavy rains we proceeded directly to the Halugan Falls.
The climb down to the falls took us about 45 minutes on a very steep rocky trail made extremely muddy and slippery. Although concrete steps have been cut into the gorge there are a lot of rocks and boulders making this unsuitable for very young children and anyone whom is not physically fit. Proper footwear is recommended.
As you approach the bottom of the gorge the towering waterfall appears and is truly spectacular. Swim in the shallow rock pools or climb up to the falls, the trek is well worth the physical effort.
The climb back up took me the best part of an hour resting every few meters on the steep climb. Definitely for the adventurous!
Overall this is a very challenging waterfall to visit but well worth the physical effort. We recommend the adventure and give a thumbs up to the Guides whom without their guidance I probably would not have made the climb!Written January 16, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jade Krystal GManila, Philippines17 contributionsWent on a hike at Mt. Makiling two days ago (Sunday) as we usually do on weekends. Been hiking here so many times towards Agila base. Usually relaxed and mixed with exploring and admiring the beautiful, lush and very tall trees around. Entrance fee is around P30 per person and must leave an ID as well as fill out their form. For first time hikers here, do not get scared if you hear a very eery sound as though there is heavy rain down pouring but no rain is felt…it’s just the cicadas making those sounds. Often, we observe, they make such loud noises when they hear humans talk or just simply “see and feel” us. Their way of communicating I guess. It can really be very loud during rainy season / weather and oftentimes I still feel unsettled when I hear them but they are harmless. Anyway, so on this hike we chanced upon seeing small, black-furred monkeys between station 4 -5. We’ve never seen monkeys here before and luckily this time, we did. We saw some black birds too, but not sure what type they were as they hid on the thick trees above us. If you get thirsty or hungry, you will come across people selling mineral bottled water, coconuts, Mountain Dew, lemon soda, coffee, rice meals, biscuits, boiled bananas when you reach station 7. But we like bringing some trail mix with us as we walk, and packed sandwiches inside Tupperware…lol we just want to 😁😁😁. But we keep and manage our thrash…and so should you. You will also find a comfort room by the Botanical garden on the right between station 7 and 8. Agila base is at Station 11 where you will find another bunch of sellers of food and drinks. Beyond it will be the next route that will be the rough jungle ahead…yes no more cemented path which will take you to the same length as from the starting point to station 11 ( yes, that far!😁) Anyway there are “habals” (for hire motor bikers to take you back to point 1 only as they can’t go beyond station 11 but not sure how much they charge though as we couldn’t muster anymore strength to walk and climb further 😁). Going down, we saw a black snake with the length of two of my arms lol but it slithered away. So, if you are thinking of hiking here, don’t fear cuz there are many people hiking, biking, running on the way as well as motorbikes running around bringing rice, some vegetation around or just transporting passengers but still very generally quiet all throughout the whole hike trail. Oh and if you go here on rainy season, you will get wet and the trail may get some areas slippery and muddy so keep an eye for millipedes, lizards, and yeah you guessed it right..snakes. On sunny weather, expect to see butterflies, lizards, spiders, birds around. Have fun! 🥰Written October 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Czar EmmanuelManila, Philippines10,221 contributionsMountains have always been associated with mysteries, especially in the Filipino culture. They are not only considered as dwelling places of spirits (both benevolent and malign ones), but also as privileged places to communicate with some supreme being. Such is the case of Mount Banahaw, located between the Provinces of Quezon and Laguna on the Island of Luzon (in northern Philippines).
We went there as part of our educational excursion. We wanted to meet and interview a group of Rizalistas ... members of a religious movement who believe in the divinity of our national hero, Jose Rizal. It was a very interesting visit. We had a chance to know more about their movement, its religious tenets, practices, and so forth.
After the encounter with the Rizalistas, we did some trekking up the mountain. Mount Banahaw is 2177 meters high. There are many spots there considered as "holy." Thus we saw many altars built on boulders, religious statues of saints, lit candles, and so forth. Aside from all these, the place was very peaceful and relaxing. It felt good to listen to the sound of Nature and to breathe some fresh air, away from the polluted air of the metropolis.Written September 20, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
