- Lori CCary, IL6 contributionsThis is a climbers gym. No frills but the people are great and lots of routes of all levels. If you’re looking for something fun to try or if you’re an experienced climber North Wall is an excellent place to spend some time!Written April 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - illinois travelere1,565 contributionsThe mansion was built at a cost of $100,000 in 1865 dollars (about a million and a half today).
For a while it was owned by Mrs. Lou Ringling (of the circus dynasty) who added a ballroom and made other changes.
In the '40s it became a boys' prep school; in 1976 the First Congregational Church bought part of the property; in 2002 the Lakeside Legacy project began.
Today it is a community center featuring arts and music. Check the website calendar and pay a visit when there's a program to attend.Written April 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Five teen boys monopolized the ropes course swinging “steps” back/forth to prevent person behind them getting to the step. It’s 40 minutes later and they are still on the course! Other younger children afraid to get on the course. I would think as soon as you see a group of teens they might want to keep an eye on them a bit more. It doesn’t take long for their fun experience to outweigh public common sense. They are do much bigger/heavier than the younger kids.Written July 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
