The Art Institute of Chicago is an excellent downtown art museum with a particularly good Impressionist collection. This is a large collection of interconnected buildings; plan on spending an entire day (or days) to see it all. In addition to the classical & Impressionist collections, don't miss the large group of miniature interiors in a basement gallery. Each miniature shows the cohesive styles of a given American & European period; all in 1" = 1' scale. A must see for buffs of models or dollhouses.

Note that the Museum's cafeteria is not open yet, so you are on your own for lunch or other meals.

Take UBER or bus. Don't take "EL" (metro). Inside you will see full-size train, airplane.
For lunch, suggest eating at the Garden Grill. Hamburgers were amazing AND I'm not a burger fan!

What a magnificent view! Well worth it. We did not do the Tilt, too scary!! but people seemed to like it. Would have been even better had we been able to catch the Blue Angels Navy hot shot pilots practicing for the Lake Shore Water and Air Show.

The Cloud Gate massive sculpture is an interesting site as you walk to and from the adjacent Millennium Park. Besides its unusual shape, the polished curved exterior provides interesting crowd reflections as you walk by. One of several massive and eye-catching outdoor sculptures inside this park section of the city worth visiting.

    The Bean!
Whose idea was this for an attraction? I love it.

The angles allow the surface to reflect the buildings around. It's really cool, especially at night when everything is lit up.

The Field Museum is an outstanding natural history museum covering many scientific topics. Of particular interest was the "gigantisourous" display and associated movies, which outlines how this largest of land animals was found in South America and how its collected bones were used to construct the huge live-sized model in the main hall. Fans of dinosaurs will enjoy this recent addition of the Museum.

The Chicago Riverwalk is a great way to both see the busy river traffic flowing by and avoid all the street traffic lights if you were walking on the streets above. The Riverwalk has numerous cafes and restaurants to visit, particularly on the southern side (where the walk is continuous from the Confluence of the North & South river branches to Lake Michigan) . The Riverwalk is always busy with dog walkers, joggers and us tourists, so there's always something to see.

The architecture inside is worth the visit . Many exhibits were closed though due to some construction . But still beautiful and peaceful.

As a tourist, this place is somewhat off the beaten path but, it is well work the trek. Each room is filled with abundant greenery and calming sounds of nature, that make it feel as if you have stepped into a different world. The conservatory is a veritable treasure in a concrete jungle!
