Inya lake is in the heart of Yangon and can be a great place to relax or get some exercise. There is a great part where you can enjoy lunch and a drink beside the water and surrounded by lovely gardens.
Mix with the friendly locals as you take a walk around the lake or take a picnic and lay back on the lawns. If you have kids it’s safe for them to run around and play there are playgrounds. It’s a great place to visit if you are nearing the end of hectic travels.

Great experience: authentic, culturally valuable, and super fun. The enthusiasm of the proprietors was inspiring.

Visit during the day. Not happy with the photos at "street level", I went up to the top floor of the Esperado hotel which is across the street and where, from the restaurant terrace, you have a splendid view of the lake.

We stopped off here after an all-day tour of Yangon and ferry ride across to Dala and a much needed respite from the heat. The cold coffee drinks were a wonderful treat. Service was a bit slow (though the place was not crowded). But still a pleasant stop. Take a few minutes to look at the old photos hanging in the main hall. We admired the interior design (or redesign) of the hotel. Lovely setting.

My friends and I did a bicycle trip around Dala with Uncharted Horizons this week. I have to say that this is by far the most outdoorsy and close to witnessing the real way of life of many of the locals here, experience you can have.

The tour started at 7.00am and ended at 12.30pm. We started off by cycling to a tea shop for breakfast with our two experienced guides, Sai and Michael, the breakfast was great as the selection was really wide and our guides obliged to advise on what to choose, their English was impeccable BTW. Once nourished we set off to catch a boat(s) across the river where the rural landscape unfolded in front of our eyes. It was almost like a different world from busy streets of Yangon, with beautiful scenery including little lakes, forested scenery, and lots of little villages where life was just buzzing. I’m not gonna go into too much detail as I don’t wanna spoil the trip but the whole experience, which required several boat trip in between the little inlets we traveled between, was utterly remarkable.

The whole cycling trip was about 30km in distance and apart from the breakfast break we had a tea break, and one or two others to take it all in. So all in all, not strenuous at all. The bikes provided were good quality mounts bikes with front wheel suspension and totally did the job. I can’t thank enough our lovely guides who I mentioned before, and Jochen who is in charge of operations for coming up with this experience.

    ကျေးဇူးတင်ပါသည်

With that I’ll leave you guys, to it 😉

We booked an 8 day tour of Myanmar through Hannah (Hmwe Hmwe) who was excellent throughout the whole process, answering all my emails and queries beforehand.
She met us on arrival and had arranged our hotel room to be decorated (Tawin Garden Hotel) and provided a cake as well as a gift as it was my wife's birthday. A lovely personal touch.
We have travelled to 15 countries where we have arranged tours with a local guide/company directly, and this was one of the best with meticulous detail in its planning. All information about the tour, hotel voucher and flight tickets were given to me on arrival along with a summary of travel, flights and check in times etc.
Our guides and drivers were excellent, always very attentive, knowledgeable and willing to help and please. Htet and Lin were particularly helpful and caring when my daughter had a medical issue - going beyond expectation to get what we needed.
We also saved 30% by booking our balloon flight through One Stop instead of directly with the balloon operator.
I would definitely recommend One Stop Tours.

Ive recently returned from a tour of Myanmar organised by Myint Swe and was totally bowled over. The Burmese are so friendly and engaging. We had some different guides and all of them were warm, witty and engaging. So as well as being incredibly well looked after we had fun at the same time. From the moment we arrived everything ran smoothly. Accommodation was good, excellent food - Im a big fan of seafood and was delighted to discover that the traditional breakfast is Mohinga - a fish based soup with noodles and lemongrass - divine. The tour was very diverse and we had city time and rural time. The highlight for me was Inle Lake and spending a number of days travelling only by boat. We had water buffalo swimming alongside us one day. A compulsory place to visit whilst at Inle is Indein, hundreds of ancient stupas - the site is believed to date back to the 3rd century. Bagan is also a must, get a bike and cycle around some of stupas (over 1000) . Myint Swe is very knowledgeable about his country both geographically and politically and is very good company. I can't recommend this company enough. Just book it now.
