The Ringling mansion is much more interesting because they incorporated a lot of unusual items from their circus. No school kids, nice sunny day, but cool weather. We loved it. My wife had never seen manetees - she loved 'em. Small tanks with most exhibits but kept pretty clean. Good jelly fish exhibit, otters, mangrove tanks, turtle building with a good explanitory educational program at regular intervals. Lots of good stuff. It was like stepping back over 100 years. Loved the attention to detail on all the outside brick and to still see how it was preserved inside was amazing. Well worth the 10 bucks! - Kenneth HProvidence, RI96 contributionsAn artist friend of ours told us about this place and said it’s not to be missed. She was absolutely correct. I’m not a huge fan of classic art museums, but this is nothing like it. The all volunteer staff welcomed us with a brief explanation and their only request is that we leave with a smile,….our smiles never stopped. It’s a true gift (there is no admission fee, only donations are requested) to the community and the world.

Just had Mom & Dad's service here over the past weekend. Was literally taken back on the extreme precision that was executed. It was if my father had been an Admiral. Everyone dressed to the tee, clean, crisp, perfectly groomed, buttons, medals, shoes polished, and the expertise of delivery was as if it was in a Hollywood movie. So incredibly hard to say goodbye to my parents but an absolute honor to honor them this way. The process of folding the flag and its presentation to us, was the most emotional thing I have ever witnessed. The final departure was so touching. No disappointments, none, zero, zilch. Hats off to the US Navy and Sarasota National Cemetary. FYI: The grounds are impeccable. Absolutely, impeccable. After they presented us with the American Flag and the gun shells that were in a Black velvet bag embossed in Gold with the seal of the USA, they handed me a Leather bound, gatefold folder. Inside was a document with the Presidential Seal with my Father's full name and signed by the President of the United States....hand signed. You will forever be honored Dad. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable , they were really polite and willing to answer questions. There are quite a few different restaurants and places to get a drink. The kids like the ice cream shops. Extended from Venice to downtown Sarasota. - 123zipChagrin Falls, OH35 contributionsI went to this beautiful park with our Kindergarteners. So much to discover. We took a long hike along a winding path to a lovely clearing where the children could wade in the water and discover shells, jelly fish and mangrove seed pods. We had our snack out there and then hiked back down the path to discover the beach where the children found many different shells and cooled down along the edge of the water. We spent 6 wonderful hours there.
