What travelers are saying
- Lauren AFort Worth, TX481 contributionsAmazing island if on a private tour. The larger boats go to the Southern Tip of the island and it is packed. If possible rent a boat especially if you want to go shelling.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Beth P1 contributionThis is a must see while visiting Marco Island! And it is FREE admission! The displays are all well done, well labeled and all appear to be brand new. There is a display of the history of Golf on the island including a tiny 3 hole mini golf where you can fill out your scorecard and get a stamp at the end of your visit. Other great displays include information about the Calusa Indians, early pioneers and families to inhabit Marco Island, the Cushing Archaeological Dig that uncovered 2,500 artifacts of the Calusa, including the Key Matco Cat that is currently on display. The museum also has an amazing gift shop. I loved the postcards that they have, not your normal touristy postcards. This was a fun little museum that would interest kids and adults alike!Written February 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kristen PMichigan81 contributionsThe Farmers Market only runs seasonally and is always a hit if you're in Marco on Wednesdays. Located in Veterans Park now (the previous location was temporary), it has fresh fruit and veggies and bakery items. It also has so many different food trucks available to grab a snack or meal. Vendors also sell freshly prepared foods as well as jewelry and plants. It's my fave thing to do on Wed while on the island. Don't forget to try the acai bowl truck. There's always a long line but it's worth the wait, trust me!Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kristen PMichigan81 contributionsThis beach has beautiful white sand that goes on for miles. While parking is tough here ( across the street off Collier) you should probably plan on getting there early. It's a great place to hang out, relax, and come and watch the gorgeous Marco sunset!
Also, NO dogs are allowed on this beach and the locals are not afraid to tell you so!Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tigertail beach is a Beautiful beach! Lots of shells. Clean sand, amazing clear water. Not too many people (in August).
Cons:
We spent 2 days at tigertail. The first day we walked around the lagoon which is quite a haul, especially if you have little ones/ a lot of stuff. The second day we decided to cut across the lagoon. While it was significantly shorter, the water was unusually high (per a local) so my youngest (9) needed some help. Also, this walk was not for a faint of heart. We saw a lot of wildlife IN the water around us. Some of it we knew exactly what it was, others were big & we could only guess and this freaked us out a bit. Also, all 7 of us cut, punctured or scraped our feet in the lagoon. It was not a fun "adventure" as we had hoped it would be.
I would absolutely go back, but we will be walking around the lagoon from now on!Written August 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Marina was 3 minutes away from where we were renting so very convenient. We were given a thorough but concise briefing on how to drive the boat, where to go, how to get out of the marina and where we could dock to enjoy the beach during our hire. Our main focus was to see dolphins and we absolutely did. Our first encounter were with a mum and her approx. 2 year old calf. They were just hanging around a particular spot and so we stayed there with them for about half an hour. It was amazing. We saw several more as we explored a bit further and then turned around to head towards the beach we'd been recommended to visit. We anchored the boat there, collected lots of beautiful seashells and saw several more dolphins playing around a little way off from the beach. The boat was easy to drive, the maps clear and helpful and we were guided into the dock by the staff on our return. It was a wonderful morning. We finished it off with a lunch at Island Gypsy which was very nice and very popular. Great cocktails!Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- steve CNaples, FL75 contributionsGreat fun for family! Covered basketball courts shielding sun, baci, kiddie park and lower hoops for smaller kids. - wifeof25yearsEphrata, PA264 contributionsSooooooooooooo loved our day! Wanted to do this last year and my husband didn't but this year he said "yes!" We loved it! Jim was amazing, knowledgable and friendly! A "new" younger guy was great as well, I'm sorry I didn't get his name!
Totally agree that the Conch train was a great way to see the "sights" and get a feel for what you want to go back and really explore.Written March 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There's easy access to the water via a boat ramp, and a fair amount of parking, though the parking lot does fill up fast during certain times of the year. Putting in the water from here gives you easy access to the sandbar in Caxambas pass, Dickman's Island, and various other places south of Marco. It would be a long paddle to get to the domes off Cape Romano, but an easy trek via a powered boat.Written January 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mr. EasyMount Dora, FL73 contributionsBy coming here you will have many choices to the water and how you would like to experience the island. Rent many kinds of boats or hop on a tour for fishing or touring. They have a huge liner with short and affordable tours with meals. Great for the less adventurous or vulnerable. Their gift shop is huge and complete with fishing gear and bait as well as fashions. You can book in person and ask directly. Not crowded but just right. There's a even a small bar with outdoor patio seating for grabbing a snack/meal or drink after your adventure.Written December 8, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim RNew Milford, CT54 contributionsWhile on Marco Island recently we heard about an exhibit at the Marco Island Center for the Arts of Mike Neall's metal art. We bought a piece while we were there and picked it up on the way out of town. The staff was great. The quality of this art center was very high, especially for a small town like Marco Island, but of course I'd expect no less. It's a pleasant diversion - go see it.Written September 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Julie FColumbus, OH15 contributionsWhile the beaches on Marco Island do not welcome dogs, our Golden Doodle was perfectly happy with a daily stop at Canine Cove. Two large spaces, one for small and the other for large dogs, water, picnic tables, shade and friendly people too!Written March 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
