It was a long journey for a short amount of time there, but worth it I think. We got picked up in Ft. Lauderdale at 5:30 am and didn't get to Key West till after noon. There were a lot of stops in Miami. We had a car and could have almost driven there and back in that time seeing as how we left our condo at 4:45 am. But it was nice to be able to leisurely look out the window and listen to the guide (Louis), who did a great job narrating. We had planned on doing the on/off trolley once we got there, but decided to do the glass bottom boat instead. No time for both. So glad we did as it was really hot and the boat ride was nice and cool. We had time before to walk to the southern most point and get a picture (plan to stand in line - we waited about 20 minutes). We took an Uber back to board the boat on time ($9.15). After the boat ride we had time for dinner and drinks, stopped for an ice cream, and got back on the bus. I'm glad I got to see Key West. Definitely wouldn't have driven it ourselves in one day. Just be aware that you will not be able to see and do much since there are long lines to get into see things like the Hemingway House.
