We visited on a Friday and our tour guide was great! I encourage you to pay a few extra dollars for the private tour. It was very informative. It’s hard to believe the owner has collected so many authentic items. A wonderful experience.

Wonderful museum, very interactive and informative about the Ute people. Extremely impressive that they have artifacts that belonged to Chief Ouray and his wife, Chipetwa. The museum stands on land that was part of a ranch owned by Chief Ouray and Chipetwa; after her husband's death, Chipetwa was forced to move away. It is a good ending, that this land is back in the hands of the Ute people and telling the stories of their leaders.

Passing through Montrose on a road trip and loved this place. We travel with our dog and we wanted to stretch our legs. What a nice park! We walked a trail along a beautiful river and watched a few kids surf a section of the river. Noticed people hiking in the hills, families getting ready to BBQ, and generally just enjoying this park. Very clean and kept up very nicely.

My husband and I stopped in here before we could check-in to our Vrbo just to kill time. We were the only ones here and took our time enjoying all the plants, flowers, and cacti.
This is a nice little botanic garden that is free of charge and more like a "park." Plants, flowers and trees are labeled with names for identification. There are several statues, fountains, art pieces, benches and sitting areas. It is very peaceful and well-kept. I was surprised at how many flowers were still in bloom this late in the year. It was also nice seeing so many butterflies, bees and pollinators!
It was the perfect place for a relaxing stroll.

This experience was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Colorado. This was such an interesting and informative tour. We enjoyed getting to experience the alpacas, the watchdogs, and the products produced from the alpacas.

I cannot recommend this highly enough. Take this trip out to see the Alpaca ranch.

My kids, nephews, sis in law, and I had a great time together at covered bridge ranch. The hamster wheel was a huge hit with our kids! Pumpkins everywhere, and the scenery was so beautiful. A little muddy, next time we will wear rubber boots, it happened to be a little rainy the days before we went. I especially loved the ride around the ranch with the tractor. The Longhorns were my favorite! Face painting was free, and all the kids got one :) but please remember to leave a tip 👍

Drove in from Ouray and wanted to visit a distillery so we found this place. I didn’t get the bartenders name but he was awesome. He was making some homemade kiwi syrup at the time and I asked him to make me a sweet drink with it so he mixed that with pineapple rum! Perfect fruity drink. Husband got the bourbon lavender old fashioned that was on the board. He really enjoyed it. We tasted some of their liquors. Husband liked them but at $80 it was just too much. Our bill for 4 taste tests and two drinks were $48. A little steep for just drinks but it was a nice stop. We sat outside and listened to a band play and ate at the sushi food truck which was awesome!!!

The extensive collection in this Museum is wonderful. The room with the medical / dental items was great fun. The outdoor collection of farm equipment included many items we had never seen.

A friend recommended Chipeta Lake for the little guy's first fishing trip. It is located at the south end of Montrose near the Ute Indian Museum. There was adequate parking. The lake is open dawn till dusk and we arrived between 7 and 8 AM. There was a metal staircase down from parking to the lake bank. The lake is next to the river but higher. There were cattails along the bank which did provide a little challenge to get to the water. There is a path around the lake which is not large as lakes go. This makes it a nice starter for a young one. Also I heard that it is kept well stocked. The water was quite clear and had moss growing on the bottom. I set up the rod for my grandson and tried to set things up for a friend but the fish wouldn't have it. The bobber was gone almost before I could hand the rod to my grandson. Fish were hitting worms and the artificial lures I through in almost as fast as it hit the water. Unfortunately the fish knew how to get the worms and maybe grandpa needs more recent practice to catch the fish which used to seem so easy to catch. It was fun and we'll go again. We were there a couple hours and it was getting warm and the shade was disappearing so we left after a couple hours. We need to get back so the little guy can catch one. I saw mainly small trout and a croppie. There was one that came close to shore that was easily 5 pounds plus. I think a large trout. That would be a lot of fun on the line. If you are in the area I would say give it a try.

I visit this pool several times a week. It could be cleaner, and at various times of the day it is crowded, as the public shares with the swim team. It has a therapy pool and a hot tub, and a small workout area upstairs. There are fitness classes in the pool, so check the schedule.
