What travelers are saying
- Maryann LFair Oaks, CA1,318 contributionsPhoenix Park is one of many large and well maintained parks in Fair Oaks. This beautiful park has multiple soccer and baseball fields, paths for walking or biking, a children's bike park, a dog park with separate areas for small and large dogs, playgrounds, picnic tables with grills and large parking lots. It's a great place for the whole family and a wonderful place to fly a kite on a windy day. The vernal pools trails are not to be missed in the spring. The flowers are spectacular.Written January 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Susan WFair Oaks, CA190 contributionsClothing items are samples that owner gathers - I've never run into anyone wearing what I buy there. People who work in the store are very friendly and giving.Written April 23, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TN-Transplant73105 contributionsMy FIL has been urned in the memorial wall here for over 25 years. Every visit for every remembrance reminds us of the dignity of this lovely garden. Always neatly manicured, well maintained in every aspect. Exceptional access hours. A dignified final resting place of peace, solitude and beauty.Written April 14, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Queen JCalifornia2,501 contributionsThis trail is found about 30 steps to your right after you cross Fair Oaks Bridge on the side opposite Sunrise Recreation Area. There isn't any parking on this side, but you can park at Sunrise Rec for $10 at the self serve kiosk (unless you have a state parks permit).
There is a sign at the entrance and a thin dirt path up the hill. It takes about 5 minutes to reach the top edge and about 7 to hike to the fence at the end. The view is best when you first reach the top of the hill.
Every lookout between trees is a steep cliff edge with an abrupt, unguarded drop to the river below. It is not possible to see straight down as the cliff erosion is deeper at the bottom, but you can see the river and the bridge.
I did this quick hike just before sunrise. Do be aware that there are homeless people in sunrise park and around the bridge, so I wouldn't advise going alone in the dark as I did. Safe and populated area during daylight.Written October 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a bike, walking path, outdoor exercise equipment, hiking path and on the day we went, goats. The park is well maintained and clean. People of all ages were enjoying the park and observing distancing themselves. They also seemed to have an open field for soccer. Great place for all ages.Written May 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jim KSacramento, CA1,342 contributionsWhat a wonderful find. Entrance to the park is $5.00/self per auto and well worth the money. There are several parking areas. One for equestrian trail and pond.
Kayak launch and access to the river is at the end of the main road. Also very nice fishing area.

The only reason this experience didn’t get 5 stars was the ranches manager. They have very strict rules due to being on state land/insurance (nothing faster than a walk). This is completely fine and understandable but I don’t need to be snapped at because I asked if we were allowed to do any other gate. Being treated like a five year old as a grown adult is a major insult. EVERYONE else at the ranch was incredibly nice, helpful and respectful. I hope she reads this and takes the queue, please treat people with respect.Written December 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
