As much as I enjoyed the larger zoos, aquariums, &c this was a bit more intimate and an opportunity to get "up close and personal" w/ the animals. The octopus apparently knew folks were watching as it put on a show working its way back and forth and up and down in the aquarium. The turtles and rays were extremely entertaining as they surfaced and would splash as many as they could who were close to the tank. Lots of other fish and exhibits as well as a nice raptor center (unfortunately I missed the raptor show) w/ about a dozen different majestic birds.

A variety of places to stay, with the historic Rosarito Beach Hotel standing out, you can eat fancy or cheap and all of it good and fairly priced! Want California Fusion Cuisine? Try Susanna's! Fabulous tacos...most anywhere "on the street." Sensational Mole? We love Cazuela de Mole. You can't stay long enough to eat all the good food! Great wide sand beach, fun drinking spots! We had a picnic on the grass and watched the waves and gulls. I often like going to this place by myself and with friends. The surroundings are quiet, there is vegetation and running water coming down from the mountains. Parking is a little hard to find because restaurants are using what was parking as outdoor dining. They finally had to close the museum on 3rd Ave because the termites had caused a lot of damage and it was torn down. They moved the museum to the library and have had multiple exhibits since then.
