- KTLoydLouisville, KY36 contributionsAmazing!!!...from meeting the owner, our wonderful guide, William, as well as Olie & Digs (apologize if misspelled). There isn't another company I would ever have chosen for this experience!!.. Absolutely everything was thought of for our 3 day/2 night safari. Our guide, William, has got to be the best guide in the entire area, he did everything to allow us the best experience, and he was above & beyond successful, we all truly, truly appreciated his efforts and his attentiveness to what we all hoped to get out of the experience, he literally made all of our personal hoped for sightings happen and then some! Food was plentiful and just amazing, I adored Olie & Digs and hope this reaches them, just to express how much I enjoyed meeting them, and appreciate how very well they took care of us and would choose them a hundred times over, thank you....thank you.....wanting to go on a safari???..THIS is the one, Temogo is absolutely the right choice, thank you so very much for having us;-)Written July 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GrandTour427954462131 contributionMy wife and I travelled with another couple to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The entire trip of 18 days was customised for us and organised by Christelle from Gondwana tours. The itinerary was very well put together with excellent communication at all times to ensure our needs were met. The whole process was very smooth with quick turn around on changes and no stress. We couldn't have been served better. The trip itself was brilliant with recommendations on accommodation and places to visit that were fantastic without exception. The lodges in particular were great with attention focussed on our individual needs especially with regard to dietary requirements. The transfers between lodges and locations were seamless despite different providers being involved. We would not hesitate to recommend Christelle and Gondwana tours to others wanting a unique experience in Africa.Written December 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - moobileee3 contributionswilddogs and wildcats, a serval and we even saw a leopard. We saw many birds and learned a lot about the animals. The food was so good we all gained weight. The Service, the tents and the car were just perfect and Kemy managed everything in a very professional manner.

Maria tailored the trip to meet my requirements and was efficient and courteous in answering my questions. The highlight for me was the camping as it is the best way to get up close with animals, but you must be prepared to 'rough it' a bit - camp bed and en-suite long drop toilet and bush shower (with hot water) - but all comfortable. The elephants came to us one night - I looked out my tent window and all I could see was elephant. The guide was dedicated in seeking out the animals and the three camp staff were efficient and friendly. The first night I slept on a mattress in the open at the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans - wow, what stars. Then two nights camping at a mobile camp in the Okavango Delta, a night R&R in Maun, then three nights camping in Moremi Game Reserve. The number and variety of animals and birds sighted exceeded my expectations. My favourite sighting was the pride of three lionesses with their eight cubs.Written October 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GarfieldluvrDenver, CO981 contributionsMy Boyfriend and I decided we wanted to do a safari in Botswana. I started trying to plan our trip and realized rather quicky that this trip was going to be different. For most trips I plan everything; our flights, hotels, restaurants, transportation, and tours. I actually really enjoy planning vacations and I am a little bit of a control freak, preferring to have complete control over all aspects of our trip. I realized that while African safari trips can be planned by folks like me, they usually are not, as most people use a company to help them. I found Safari Specialists mentioned on the TS forms several times so decided to reach out to them and was connected to Nadine. Since this was our first safari, I had tons of questions and Nadine patiently answered every single one. She provided me with so much detailed information it really helped me make decisions as to what we wanted to do. She recommended some camps based on our personal preferences, and laid all options out on the table. She would send me prices for Camp A, B, and C and if I said that was too high, she would revise it with Camp A, B and D stuff like that. We did that back and forth for quite a while until I found the price and the camps that I liked. I never felt pressured to choose any specific camp or anything, the information was simply presented for me to use to make the best decision. I was a little nervous about paying a deposit for far in advance, but I understand the need for it, and I had no issues. Upon arriving to Africa, we had ZERO issues. Every car arrived when they said they would, every plane took us where we needed to be, every camp was prepared for our arrival, it was totally seamless. On top off all that, a rep from Safari Specialists met us at Maun Airport and brought us over to a wonderful café before wishing us well on our journey. I think using a company based in Botswana brings more local knowledge and recommendations. Camps are closing, opening, and changing and Nadine knew all of the news and was able to use that to help me find the best camps for our preferences with the best price. I highly recommend Safari Specialists If you are planning a Safari to Botawana or neighboring countries. They are ush a knowledgeable, dependable, and friendly company. Thank you Nadine for helping us plan the trip of a lifetime!Written October 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mary WHuntington Beach, CA3 contributionsI am very pleased with the tour I booked with Savanna Safaris & Tours. Emmelyn was my contact. She was very responsive to emails before and during the tour. The 2 week tour to Victoria Falls, 3 safaris camps in Botswana and Cape Town was very organized and went smoothly. This was very important for 2 females travelers. I would recommend Savanna Safaris to others and would not hesitate to use their services again.Written October 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jules RSydney, Australia24 contributionsIn October 2023 three friends and I had the absolute pleasure of doing a 7 day safari in Botswana with Walking Sticks Travel & Tours. The great service began before we left Australia as we emailed to and fro asking questions and clarifying details about the trip and were provided with all the info we needed by the very helpful Kealeboga James. It was a mobile safari which meant we camped in 4 different areas. As such, we got to see different landscapes and animals through Okavango Delta, Khwai Community Area, Savute area and Chobe National Park. I arrived in Maun the day before our tour started but still I was greeted at the airport by Walking Sticks owner Phillimon who drove me to my hotel. He immediately struck me as a polite and respectful person and as we spent the week in his care he proved to also be professional, humble, flexible, trustworthy and extremely knowledgeable with regard to flora, fauna and all things nature. He was supported by a terrific, hardworking team including Chef 'Prince' (a funny fellow), another expert guide, and multi-skilled back-up people who did everything from poling the Mokoro canoes to setting up tents and completing many tasks required to look after our needs so all the hard work was done for us. Our tour began with an enthralling Mokoro trip through the beautiful pristine wetlands where we were amongst hippos, crocs, elephants and birds. Mokoro's are the main form of transport and our camping spot was inaccessible by road and located in a shady nook near the water where we could view elephants and hear the sounds of nature (eg lion's roaring) day and night. Our tents with en-suite were adequate and we enjoyed the food and gin & tonic 'sundowner's whilst watching the gorgeous sunsets. Each day we spent hours game viewing either on foot or by jeep and Phillimon had a gift at being able to track and locate all manner of wildlife including lion, hyena, wild dogs, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, baboon, leopard and a variety of antelope and birds. We learnt so much as he imparted his knowledge of their behaviour and the landscape. All our campsites were different and in lovely settings. If you are a person who loves nature and living amongst it, can be up at sunrise every day and handle the challenges of dusty, bumpy roads and hot weather (October) then this tour is for you. It is one of the most memorable experiences in my 40 years of traveling. Thank you so much to Phillimon - your integrity is a true asset. Walking Sticks is a locally owned and run business and deserves the highest praise.Written November 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Giny SToronto, Canada59 contributionsClothing
Proper attire is very important. Tips for travellers that join safaris during the winter months, bring winter cloths with you: Gloves, hat, scarves, items that can be worn in layers. Safari starts at approximately 5:30 AM, no windows or even windshield to allow better visibility but it means wind chill and lower temperature. It might be 3 Celsius to 8C at this time of the year going up to 25C to 28C around lunchtime, dropping again after sunset. Shoes, hiking shows leather preferable, tennis shoes allow sand and earth to get through.
We are very happy with Degree, his knowledge of wild life, in particular birds. He is very attentive
Dune Camp, but it might not be worthwhile driving a total of 8 hours to visit a private reserve. It is besides Kalahari Reserve, but we never had the opportunity to visit the actual reserve. Animals that we saw in Dune Camp are in most of the other government reserves. We wonder if it is actually ethical to support private reserves that prevent free movement of animals in some cases causing their death due to thousand of kilometers with high electrical fences.
In summary we would recommend dropping Camp/Lodge Dune Camp and those two days. There are two options, to make the safari shorter or to extend the days in the other two sites in particular Khwai or Moremi area. Instead of driving all the way from Maun to Khwai to add the flight as part of the package, picking up guests directly in that location. Chobe is too busy compared to Moremi. If the purpose is selling exclusivity Khwai/Moremi is the answer.Written August 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. goers we were amazed at the number of different species and the numbers of each type. Among these we saw many antelopes ; elephants; lions; hippos; giraffes;
wild painted dogs; monkeys; zebras as well as many others. The food we were served each
day was excellent. We could not believe the bread and cake that was baked in the bush in a tin oven. The information given to us by Jack and company was great.
He tracked animals to find them for us and then positioned our vehicle for us'
to take pictures. All of our questions were answered in detail.
All in all a once in a lifetime experience made great by Jack and his team.
We would recommend Tony Mobile Safaris to anyone interested in taking one
and ask for Jack as your guide.Written October 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Their knowledge of, and passion for, the natural environment was clear from Day One. This was our first visit to Africa and we were not sure what we were going to experience. Camping in the wild gave us the opportunity to see animals big and small up close and away from large groups of people. Words cannot describe what it is like to see some of the animals you've read about or watch in documentaries in their natural habitat for the first time. This was an experience beyond our usual day to day lives but the briefings and guidance we received from the team made us feel safe during our time in the bush. We will never forget this. Our tent was very comfortable and large enough for a 185 cm tall person to stand up in and we appreciated the private toilet facilities attached to the back of the tent. Mikey, our Botswanan Master Chef, consistently produced wonderful meals in the bush kitchen and we loved sitting around the bush television at night, hearing the sounds of animals roaming around. We allowed 12 days to visit Magkadikgadi, Moremi and Chobe National Parks and Khwai Concession. All very different locations and offering wonderful wildlife experiences. Be aware that the driving time between Maun and some of these locations takes longer than it looks on a map due to the condition of the roads so if you want to visit them all, allow plenty of time. Also be prepared to be flexible as you are travelling in remote places and things don't always go to plan. We enjoyed this trip so much that we hope to do another one in the not-too-distant future. Ke a leboga to Gideon and your team, Anne & Paul.Written September 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael WRedding, CT1,728 contributionsWe were very impressed with this operation. The office was efficient and friendly and our pilot spoke better English than us (and we’re English).
The flight over the Delta was a once in a lifetime experience. We saw lots of wildlife and the pilot was on the ball identifying all of the animals for us.
Wouldn’t hesitate to take this trip again.Written September 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
