Everyone should try to see this heart of Patan at least once in their lifetime. Fascinating and mesmerizing.

Highlight of my trip to Kathmandu (or I suppose, Lalitpur!). So much history and life to see inside and around the museum. While some of the exhibits feel duplicative, others are original and so informative! It was a fun and surprisingly delightful maze. At times, I thought the museum was over only to turn a corner or enter a doorway and see a whole new section or pathway. It took me 4 hours total to navigate the experience.

The Golden Temple in Patan is also known as the Hiranyavarna Mahavihara or the Kwa Baha Monastery. The monastery of Shakyamuni Buddha was build by King Bhasker Verma. Legend has it that the temple was built at a place where a rat chased a cat. Though, I did not see but was told that rats are being fed at this place.

Another beautiful example of architecture in Patan. Still seems to be an active religious site. Popular part of the walking tour.

The Kumbheshwar Temple is a beautiful 5 storied pagoda designed temple close to Patan Darbar Square. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a large brass Nandi (bull) facing it.

Rudra Varna Mahavihar seems to be still an active and revered temple and historic Buddhist monastery. It is literally crowded with bronze treasures. Interesting to stop and explore.

On eastern side of Durban Square remains this 14th century royal Palace complex expanded in 17th century. Full of art treasures. Through the golden gate you will enter Patan Museum. One of the main attractions of the walking tour of Patan.

Bhimsen is the patron deity of Newari people, god of business and trade. The 17th century temple has a very graceful design. Known for interconnected windows. Tourists cannot enter this temple.

As of the end of April 2019, this temple was still behind bars, being restored.
You can still see the statue of the elephant trampling on a human, though!

These interesting large stupas are surrounded by residential area. Many believers circling the stupas. Beautiful sight.
