Does anyone know what my photo is of from the museum?Written February 2, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Beth SEden Prairie, MN3 contributionsGoing into this hike I had read all of the reviews on here and I was pretty nervous. My daughter and I run (marathons for me! 56 to be exact) and my husband and son are in decent shape. My son is a Division 1 footall player but he's also 6'7" and 300 lbs so i just wasn't sure the "bouldering" part of this was for all of us.
I'll start by saying that we woke up at 3:30 a.m. for our 6:00 a.m. flight from Minneapolis. We landed in Phoenix at 9:00 a.m. and hit the ground running. Our VRBO wasn't available until later and we planned to drive out of town the next two days so it was now or never if we wanted to do Camelback. I had just told my family that there was "some bouldering" and that the last bit might be tough. Here's the rundown of how our climb went:
First of all.....parking. We actually found a spot in the lower lot on the Echo side and when we walked up to the trailhead we noticed a few spots in the upper lot as well. I attribute this to the time of year because those spots at 10:00 am on a busy day would definitely have been gone. We changed into shorts and t-shirts (it was a beautiful 65 degree sunny day) and brought two backpacks filled with our hydroflasks and additional water along with granola bars and our phones. We all wore regular running shoes and they were totally fine for this hike. Immediately the trail goes up and gets your heart-rate going. I would say cardiovascular-wise this hike definitely is challenging. I got a little nervous when I was out of breath so quickly but you soon realize that this is the nature of the beast. There are plenty of places to rest and catch your breath and we didn't feel rushed. I can see how a busy day may be stressful but we were able to easily pass people or let people pass us if we needed to. The "bouldering" people talk about consists of big steps up and finding a path that's suited for you and your stride. My son has longer legs and was able to easily find his footing. The rest of us couldn't necessarily follow his lead. It was fun to try to find ways to keep going up. There are parts of the trail that have a railing which was nice to hold onto and wonderful on the way down when it was steep. My husband saw a cactus way up high at one point and declared, "I think I see the top!" We still laugh about it because that was maybe a little over half way. There are posts on the trail that I only noticed later. (Because my head was down as I was looking for places to put my feet) The posts say "1/8, 2/8, 3/8..." etc so you kind of know where you are. It was exhilarating to finally get to the top. Also.......65 degree day felt like 80 and we were all pretty sweaty at the top. So I can definitely see how temps hotter than that could be problematic without enough water. We drank almost every drop of water we brought and I thought we had definitely overpacked.
As others have said in their reviews, you will see people running up and down the hill. We saw two guys who said they were training for something (the apocolypse maybe? I don't think they said) and they ran up and down 3 times while we were there. It took us over an hour to reach the top and then we enjoyed a snack and ran into our neighbors (yep! They live right across the street from us in MN) and took our time recovering before we descended.
Overall, the hike was SO worth it and we enjoyed every last second. Every once in awhile the rest of the trip my husband would say, "The cactus wasn't the top was it?" and we'd all laugh. It's kind of our inside joke now.Written January 28, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the miniature rooms. They were awesome, transported me in time. Many of the exhibits were just not a style that interested me. I'm not into angst. There was a lot of empty space, requiring a lot of walking through, empty space. I understand the need for that, but I felt that for the price, I really didn't see many paintings that interested me, except for a couple of Fr. Imp. paintings. I mean, who doesn't appreciate a Monet?! Loved the Vuillard.Written February 3, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LAC97 contributionsIt's a relatively easy walk, not even much of a climb, and you get to check out the views from the hole. It really isn't that high, as the pictures might have you believe. 10-15 walk from the parking lot.Written February 1, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Morgan M8 contributionsI love bringing my little pup to Papago Park! It’s a big park with lots to walk. The trails are mostly flat or small slopes but there are areas to go in the park if you want a more “advanced” area to explore. You can hang out by the water and soak in the beautiful landscape and have a picnic, or visit the Hole in the Rock. The entire place is beautiful for photography, and there are multiple parking lots so it doesn’t feel overcrowded or like everyone is all in one space at the same time, even though this is a busy park. Definitely a must visit for Phoenix!Written February 3, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- MelvinPusfingerTemecula, CA704 contributionsThis is not one of the top ranked zoos in the United States. Not quite in the same league as the San Diego zoo.
Nevertheless, if you are looking for a very enjoyable day for the family, this is a great place to go for a family. Children younger than 15 will particularly enjoy it.
An adult ticket cost $38 and a child is $28. So a family of five could run to approximately $170. Nevertheless, this is an all day activity and significantly cheaper than Disneyland. And you will get a great deal of exercise walking around the zoo. This is a very spacious zoo and you get to cover a great deal of territory.
They was a pretty good assortment of animals here. Three lions, a leopard, at least one elephant, and plenty of monkeys. There was also a rhino and camels.
Speaking of camels, the camel ride is very popular. Eight dollars per person but the kids will really enjoy it.
There is a shut to take you around the zoo, but that will cost you extra. At least eight dollars.
Free parking are not too far from the entrance. The gift shop is OK but nothing to write home about.
All in all a very enjoyable experience. A very good family activity if you live in or are visiting Phoenix or nearby, Scottsdale.Written April 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were about 14 people on the tour. The docent did a very good job, telling the history of the mansion, the Wrigley family and the Hormel family. The tour lasted about 1 our, after which you can explore the rooms you previously visited or have some wine at the wine bar (opens at 3 pm).
Valet parking is included in your ticket, but the Valets don't show up until 2:30 pm, so you leave your car in the valet area and your keys with the hostess and they park it after they arrive. You can also park in the lower lot (self parking) and walk up to the mansion. The steps and walk up are very steep.
The tour was $25 pp and the docent will accept tips but they are not required.
We thought it was a very good tour.Written January 13, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Its located inside the restaurant on the second floor.Written January 17, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
