McDowell Mountain Regional Park

... place with a variety of trails (& lots of desert dust too) with the wonderful variety of desert plants & wildlife (one of our party saw a rattlesnake!)! Well worth the visit to the park for those who love nature!
This is a wonderful resource managed by Maricopa County parks, that includes areas for overnight camping, picnic spots, horse riding, mountain bike riding, and now has a junior BMX track.

It is hard not to enjoy a place like this if you love nature and hiking,
It's almost 4 miles round trip and there's a small parking lot where you can park (which wasn't full on a Tuesday morning) .

A real treasure- once the kids get older you can do other trails but for us the 0.5 mile nature trail taught us about the nature around us and gave the little legs a workout.
A gorgeous natural park to enjoy - hiking, biking, and enjoying nature in its idyllic state helps me regain balance and tranquility in every segment of my life!
