Alaska State Museum
#1 of 9 Museums in Juneau
The Alaska State Museum is one of the highest quality museums I've had the pleasure to visit.
This is truly one of the best history museums I have visited.
Juneau-Douglas City Museum
#2 of 9 Museums in Juneau
One of the most beautiful and interesting museums I've visited in the USA.
Lovely small museum with very interesting displays of the mining, fishing, life of Douglas and Juneau.
Sealaska Heritage - Walter Soboleff Building

Other museums display Tlinget culture from someone else's point of view, but this museum was put together by Tlinget people to proudly show their heritage and their modern achievements.
The museum has excellent educational displays explaining the culture and history of the Tlingit people of SW Alaska and contains some wonderful artefacts.

We happened upon the JAAC when visiting the museum across the street and spent 45 minutes there.

Last Chance Mining Museum
#7 of 9 Museums in Juneau
The Last Chance Mining Museum is more than that - the museum is great, with lots of well-placed artifacts and a very knowledgeable staff.
We took an inexpensive cab ride up to the mountain, walked a very easy trail to the mining museum, paid a very low price to get in, and looked around and learned a lot about mining.
