Hannalaura and Melissa were exceptional and made the beautiful ferry ride even better. It was a really fun day trip even at the end of the season from Homer!

We had so much fun walking up and down and exploring all the shops. We even went in some places twice. Don’t forget your wallet! And stop for a cinnamon roll at the little coffee/ice cream truck in front of the event center. All the ppl working the shops were so nice and welcoming. We would love to stay on the spit during our next visit.

A lot of good information about the history of the Aleutians and the Refuge through interactive displays and short movies.
There is also some nice artwork.

Checked out the headquarters (full of local info and recs) and signed up for a Creatures of the Dock tour, which our whole family loved. Our guide Iris led our pack of nature-lovers on a surprising, dynamic, hands-on tour featuring anemones, jellies, medusas, crabs, and sea stars in some unexpected locations around the harbor. So much fun to rediscover a place we had been before with new (scientific) eyes. Our four-year-old had a blast, and the rest of the family did, too. Highly recommend.

We hiked to Glacier Lake a the base of the Growingk Glacier. It was an amazing day! If it is sunny out, plan a little extra time for lounging on the beach as we did. Soaking up the sun at the base of an Alaskan glacier - does it get any better than that? The park was well tended and all trails were well marked.

Pratt Museum in Bartlett Street was built on land that was donated by Samuel Leon and Vega Anderson Pratt where they had a homestead. Homer is situated on the shores of Kachemak Bay on the Kenai Peninsula. Kachemak Bay is circled by mountains, glaciers, and active volcanoes. Homer suffered in the earthquake of 1964. The earthquake has been recorded as the 2nd most severe in the world.
The museum has collections relating to history of the area, the anthropological finds and records, archives of historic pictures, sounds and maps, and a collection of specimens from around the Kachemak Bay and how they influenced the peoples of the area.
Harrington Cabin just outside the main Pratt Museum building has been preserved as it would have been and offers glimpse into the lives of hard-working pioneers and homesteaders in the area. The cabin houses collection of hand tools, daily diaries, crochet work, and kitchen supplies. An oral history recording is available when not attended.

Beside the homestead the garden displays local varieties of produce that once kept the early settlers with produce.

Came here on an arrival day for a visit. It was low tide at the time and the beach was super long. Did get to see a couple of Bald eagles on the beach hanging out. Great pictures and neat close ups of the birds.

This artist co op had a great selection of high quality work. There was much to tempt us in the leather goods, those marvelous brooms, and original painted silk.
But we are bringing home a beautiful carved piece of pottery we are going to use to hold cooking utensils.

We had such a fun time at this winery. The lady behind the bar was entertaining and very kind. She gave us lots of recommendations in town and for which wines to try based on our tastes. The wines were unique with fruit juice added as well as some wines made just with fruit and no grapes. Unique gift shop. Awesome experience, a different experience and would highly recommend.
