It was founded in the first half of the 14th century by King of Serbia Stefan Decanski and is listed on the UNRESCO World heritage Dečani Monastery is currently under guard from KFOR. 5€ entrance fee is worth of money as the beauty of monastery is inside. The part of the entrance fee was a knowledgeable guide. The frescoes inside are impressive as well as sculptures, murals, and icons. Taking pictures but without flash possible. The place is full of serenity and vibes.
After the churg visit you have to stop at the shop to buy souvenir, cheese pr wine made by monks. Excellent red or white wine for 10€ or even red, dry, quality barrique wine, made from Cabernet Sauvignon 20€. You can pay by credit cards
Of course you have to be properly dressed. And to enter the site, you need to bring and surrender passport to the KFOR unit at the gate.

I love old fortresses and castles. The views are really nice. It’s a steep walk on a path that’s night really the best. So it’s not that easy for people who aren’t in shape. And it could be tough if it’s raining. It would be nice if there was a cafe or something up there.

it was among the list of places to that I signed to visit. As soon as we arrived we are very much welcomed by the guys there. Everything was explained to us in details, it was kind of a free tour (by the way, it was not something that they offer, but it was done out of their welcoming traits)
I really enjoyed it, it felt like a step into the past of the place, which was also very much near to my culture and It felt like I'm in a different Epoque. It is very well maintained, very clear and you can freely go and enter, take pictures and look around.
    Definetly worth it.

Marvellous orthodox monastery, with frescoes of rare clarity, extremely well preserved, a real must when in Pristina, only a short drive from the center in a Serbian area.

I was in Rugova mountain almost a year ago with my friends. The rugova mountains had an extraordinary view especially in the morning. I would definitely recommend this for a weekend getaway.

The first picture of the first review it's not correct, it is depichting the National Library.
The largest church of the Kosovo and the largest building of the city it's dedicated to a Catholic Saint : Mother Teresa of Calcutta because she was born in Albania in 1910 her name was Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu..
If you think that catholic people here in Kosovo are only the 2 % of the people you may understand why the construction of such a big church was not well received

Visited in early October so had the place to myself. All I saw were a couple of nuns and the distant sound of workmen. A 20 minute walk from the town centre and you’re at the approach to the spectacular Rugova mountain range. Passport needed to enter the monastery grounds (and no shirts allowed). Far more impressive interior to the church than I was expecting - just don’t let the nuns catch you sneaking a few photos. Very peaceful environment and the highlight of Peja.

Just some big letters, I would not really call this a monument at all, it is not really worth mentioning in my honest opinion.

The equestrian monument of the Albanian leader, patriot and prince who led his compatriots in the rebellion against the occupation of Albania by the Ottoman Turks. He is considered the Albanian national hero.
He was born in 1405- and died in 1468

I also visited the huge Imperial Mosque also known as is an Ottoman mosque located in Pristina, Kosovo. It was open, so I took my shoes off and went in. It is very nice inside. It was built in 1461 by Sultan Mehmet II Fatih. The mosque was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1990 by the Republic of Serbia. During the Austro-Turkish wars, at the end of the 17th century, it was temporarily turned into a Catholic church. One of the most prominent Albanian writers, Pjetër Bogdani, also an active leader of the pro-Austrian rebels, was buried here. After the Ottomans regained control, in 1690, the bones of Pjetër Bogdani were exhumed and thrown into the street by the Ottoman soldiers.

The bridge is lovely (best seen from the other bridge below, not on it, ofc), but it is the ensemble of the historic Ottoman town, including the mosque, of which it is the center, that makes it so special. It is particularly well maintained and preserved, with a very good but not overbearing tourism infrastructure, and certainly the cultural center, in an architectural sense, of the country of Kosova. A trip is strongly recommended, especially if you're staying in Prishtina, which has its advantages, but urban beauty is not one of them.
